Love This Watch Even if it's Not Quite "Vintage" Just Yet
I'm currently considering selling off a few pieces to bring "the herd" back under control. One thing for certain is that this GMT 16750 "Transitional" will never go. Many would argue that it isn't quite "vintage" just yet with it's 8.8 mil serial and the gold dial surrounds. I think the acrylic crystal and patinated tritium plots and hands more than compensate. This one is a 100% complete full set dating to 1985 that has never been polished and worn ever so sparingly.
Had it out for some fresh air today and had an overwhelming urge to share it here. Sent from my LG-TP450 using Tapatalk |

Nice watch Frank. Vintage or not, it's still rock and roll to me!

30 years and over is what we consider in the vintage world... Can be cars/firearms/watches and so forth... So i consider this a vintage now... Doesn't matter if it has gold surrounds/sapphire crystal/plastic crystal/patina and so forth... 30 years and older IS vintage...

Amazing example! You're smart not to sell it. I wouldn't either.
And I'd consider that vintage at this point, but a much-debated subject, of course. |

That’s vintage. To me anything that has a “real” serial number is vintage.
Wonderful patina. I really enjoy that watch. |

Mine is also a transitional model from 1984 reference 16800 when rolex subs started getting white surrounds and the bad lacquer formula.. My dial hasn't spent much in the sun all its life but it is starting to now and I can slightly see stars on the dial (brown spot just a reflection from the phone lens...
This one is my tool watch I wear everyday and will never get rid of.... |

The color of the lume and acrylic crystal give it a very vintage feel to me. And obviously, it's a great piece.

Very nice 16750. It’s almost the perfect watch to me. I prefer it over the 1675 because of the quickset date and they are even more rare. My vote is that yours is vintage. Here’s mine

Frank, it's nice to see you still enjoying the 16750. Take care.

Hey J.P. I was 100% certain you would recognize that 16750 that was in your personal collection for more than 10 years.
I don't wear it often but certainly enjoy it immensely. Being a 100% complete "full set" with almost zero wear and such beautiful patina makes it quite special. Owning a GMT with "Springer provenance" is an honor. |

Just for you Frank - now that's vintage unpolished!!! It was definitely one that got away.
