Can somebody recognize this Rolex Datejust?

Hey! This is my first post on this forum. I'm looking to buy my first Rolex and there is this beautiful Rolex Datejust with tapestry dial for sale in my local watch shop. Only information about it is that it's from 1983 and it's been serviced at local Rolex dealer, but it doesn't have any paperwork. I tried to google information about this watch but I just couldn't find any Datejust from 1983 with similar dial. I would be grateful if someone could tell more about this watch, because I'm not sure if the year is even right on this watch.

Looks like a model 1601.

Ask for a picture of the case back removed so that you can see the movement and the case around the movement to make sure there is no corrosion.

To know the year and the model, the seller needs to remove the bracelet. The serial number and model number are engraved between the lugs. They only need to give you the first 3 numbers of the serial number to verify the year.

Looks like a nice watch if the price is right and everything checks out.

It is a 16014 with a Tapestry dial.

Agree, the dial is flat, not pie-pan, so it's likely a 16014 (not a 1601) and 1983 could be correct. It should have a quick-set date, which is easy for you to check. Looks ok at first glance, and the lume has yellowed similarly in the hands and within the applied markers, which is a good sign. But as mentioned above, it's best to check the numbers between the lugs, the movement, and the inside of the case-back to make certain everything is self-consistent. You will also want to confirm that the bracelet and endlinks are legit and not aftermarket.
