I think most would agree that yes, 1973 is vintage. My feelings are 30+ years old typically = vintage.

So my watch and myself are both 34 yrs old. Are you saying we are (vintage) old in a nice way?

Based on your reply, I'll post mostly in the "Vintage" section. I only have the one Rolex and I'll do good not to embarrass myself with the questions I may ask. I inherited the watch a little over 10 years ago and it has mainly resided in a drawer since then. I have been curious about it lately and may start wearing it so, I joined this forum to learn.

Try a search. There is a search function on this forum. There are about 30 threads on "what is vintage."

Sooner or later that definition has to change. Rolex first used sapphire in the early 70’s, and you couldn’t say a ref 5100 “Texano” wasn’t vintage because it has a sapphire crystal!!

I suggest the future qualifying benchmark would need to be a T<25 Dial (which currently is at least 22yrs old) and perhaps 25years would be an acceptable minimum age.

I’m 35 and I like to think I’m developing a charming patina, haha.

No fun in that. Besides, this thread has provoked some fun banter.
