Sizing an Aquanaut rubber strap...Input Requested

I really don't want to mess this up and cut the strap too much, so looking for feedback from the group on how best to do this. Do you cut the straps so they are even length on both sides? Or cut the strap at 6 o'clock a bit more to fit the contour of the wrist? What have people found to be the best for this strap/clasp combo?

For my 5167a I cut them equally on each side. one at a time. was perfect

5164R the 6 o clock is a good bit shorter. I'm not sure how that works lol

HSWA in NYC fit my 5164a 1 slot shorter on 6 o-clock and the buckle is very slightly off set to that side so maybe equal would be better but I wear it loose so it doesn't matter.

Very easy to do. Assuming the strap is already attached to the watch case, by eye it is obvious that the strap can be cut down a fair amount. After that point I push it in the ends of the clasp without attaching the spring bars there yet. That gives me a good feel of how much additional rubber to cut. Once I’m close, but the strap is still a bit loose, I attach the spring bars and wear the watch for a week or so. After that time it’s clear what else needs to be cut if it does.

Like everyone says, go slowly. It is a pain, but of course you can't "uncut." I know that for my wrist, I have the strap 2-3 "links" shorter on the 6:00 side and the clasp is well-centered.

On my 5164, I go 2 shorter on 6 o'clock, seems better balance than equal (on my friend's same size wrist, but cut evenly)

Exactly same for me. I have a flat 7 1/4 inch wrist and have 8 and 10 notches left on 6 and 12 side.
