Scratch on ride instead of your Rolex

Some Rolex owners feel bad when their rolex have the first scratch. How about ride? My three weeks old new car got its first rock chip ... ahhh .. it hurts.

Hell no. Much rather have a scratch on my watch than one of my cars. Just got to replace the passenger windshield on my RV for a nice $2k.... My cars are worth about 4-8x the value of my watches so I'll take a scratch on the watch.

I don't care about scratches on my car. After all, it's a tool car.

not big rock chip but just above the viper. Need to fix it for sure especially weather here is -20C. Think positive, you will not keep the car for a long time but you might keep your watch for a long time and even past it to your children. The car is not any expensive car like a porsche, still i save a long time for it. :-)

I take the train and I don't care if it's scratched or not!

...Still, I think I'd be more upset to find a ding or a damaged part on my car than my watch.

I buy a cheap car because I know it will get beat up. I just do the best I can with upkeep.

I'm just teasing a bit. But, yes, dings on a new car are very painful indeed.

I don't care much for my Dodge Ram, but my precious Z4 M, I'm quite fuzzy about.

Carl, I think that's more of a ding than a scratch. Hopefully that will come out during it's next service.

Don't worry about it, you send it for a couple of weeks and the next thing you know you get a brand new rock back.

I'm sure no one likes scratching the car or the Rolex, although it certainly bothers some more than others. For me, they're both "tools" and some wear and tear is to be expected, so minor things are no big deal.

Either way.... if you're going to worry...

the real nightmare scenario would be hitting your car WITH your Rolex and scratching both.

Funny and timely thread for me.

I got my first noticeable scratch on my new car in just 2 weeks, likely a person who wasn't very careful with a shopping cart at the store. Bugged me for a few days, now it's just slightly annoying. But liberating too. :)

Then today, I went to remove what I thought was some sap or tar that had splattered in 2 places on the driver's door, to my dismay, I removed it but whatever it was had damaged the finish underneath. Kinda sucks. :)

But, I decided to try an experiment. I buffed the 2 areas with a cape cod cloth and I have to say, while not completely gone, the damaged areas of the finish did fade enough so that it'll be not all that noticeable.

Still, I wonder what the hell it was that did the damage, the guts of some sort of giant bug with acid blood? :)

A couple years ago, somebody ran a key through the door of my brand new 335 the first day I got it. At least they were decent enough to screw up only that one door instead of more panels ...

Yeah, I wasn't even angry ... it just increased my general disappointment with people in general.

The way I looked at it ... it took me 500 bucks to bring it back to new while the person that did it is probably the same sour soul as of today.

Look on the bright side: your car's monetary value would plummet like a stone with or without the chip.

Depends on the car....

If its like a Ferrari or Lamborghini then I'd Rather have the scratch to me watch...

If its just a normal car then... No...

Two things are certain here...both of them will get scratches in during their life span

Just like my watches, the first scratch hurts, the second doesn't matter.
