OT: Ever wonder the history behind the strap that you are wearing
Have you ever wonder the history of the swiss ammo strap that you are wearing?
I do so, and start to do some research about it. Here is some information which I found Here is a very old ammo pouch called the M1898 pouch or known as the sloping pouch. I am lucky enough to get one myself. The problem with the 1898 pouches was that they were too tight, it was hard to get the ammo out. This ammo pouch is used til 1911 until it was succeeded by the 1911 pouch or known as the K31. Below is the picture of the 1911 ammo pouch This double pouches take four straight pull chargers Below are is a beautiful strap which made out from this pouch Next is the Stgw57 model pouch This type of pouch was only in use for a short period as a transition ammo pouch for soldiers that still had the old gray uniforms instead of the more modern combat suit with the big chest ammo pockets and the army dumped these on the market as surplus in the late nineties Here is a picture of the strap using this ammo pouch After looking at the swiss ammo pouches, you noticed that they have two stamp, one is the name of the maker and year that it was manufactured and the other with the letter J , M, A , N, Sz or Sch is the stamp of the leather inspector something like a QC check stamp. Hope this information helps. Mod please delete this thread if you find it inappropriate

Looks good ant!
I'll get one soon I hope. BTW, you don't need to put OT in subject line. Thankfully this isn't like p.com. We can talk about what we want here!
