Back to the Future... Kind Of?
Saw this in Florida last weekend. Everyone was taking pictures of it.
Would you drive around in it? You think it's cool or did they mess up a great car should have kept it stock?

Could just be a 70 year old hip hop enthusiast and that crap on the back is his home made sound system.
It is Florida after all. |

To me that car looks like a pile of junk. Never cared for that car. I can not appreciate it.

I would keep it stock as it it a very beautiful car when stock, but I get the whole back to the future thing and why someone would make it look like this.

If you get pulled over going 88 MPH, you and the officer could have a good laugh.

They didn’t “mess up a great car,” because it was never a great car......it did look cool though. That one is complete with Mr. Fusion and everything.

..... it was never a great car. My brother bought one on a Friday and Delorean was busted with coke over the weekend. Got his money back on Monday the stealership was stuck with 12 of those things that literally sat there and rotted for 10 years.

Oh yeah, someone spent some serious time and effort on it... and money too. All that work to source parts, bend metal, clean install... impressive.

DeLorean had a serious coke habit and your brother's money may not have had anything to do with him loading up. I'd go with, just a coincidence. |

I think it's definitely cool and I would drive it if I had it.
It would be great to have to bring to parties and shows as the owner does. Sent from my SM-N975F using Tapatalk

That exhaust cluster is a clever repurposing of IKEA shoe organizers.

I will never understand why John DeLorean decided to put a Renault engine in that car. Literally anything else would have been better.

It was a PRV custom design - he needed a closeby JIT supply chain and a unique fitment in the engine bay. A V6 was the decision and fabricated somewhere in France. At the time, if I recall correctly, no British firms would comply - some say due to his choice of Ireland for the factory. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

If they blackballed him it wouldn’t have mattered because he couldn’t afford the inventory of US engines required to run a factory. Engines, transmissions and large panels need to be made relatively closeby under JIT or you’re mired in capital intensive inventory stocking.
His volume was too low to fund a US-based company to custom build engines on site. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I remember his enormous issues and perhaps the folly of trying to start a new car company and the massive problems that entails. |
