No fear in that happening here! The kiddos will have to strap it off my arm as they lower the coffin......

Well done indeed.

This is a very good insight. When I got my Dad’s Rolex after he passed, I could not bear to look at it or even wear it for about 4 years.

I think thIs should be how a son receives a Rolex from his father.

This is what it's all about.

I did exactly the same thing in September 2018 and presented each of my three daughters with a Rolex watch, that I used to wear.
It came shortly after my Mother passed away.
I just wanted them to enjoy the pleasure in wearing them and building up their own history with them and then hopefully pass it on to their children.

So, I can share 100% how Angelo felt when he presented his sons with their's.

That's a great pic! Giving them to your sons isn't really giving them away at all as you know, but still I'd think about adding another one this year... nakedness is only for the young!

Unfortunately, neither of my kids wants one of my watches. I guess I'll have to sell them when the time comes.

Nicely done, Angelo. Not long ago I gave my son an old Breitling Chronomat that I bought new many years ago. I enjoyed that better than when I bought it.

This is something that I really want to do with my boys. I’m going to wait till they graduate high school and once they’re in college I’m going to gift them my two watches. I think it’s a great way to connect with your kids and pass on the meaning of time to them.

Very nice but I think I'd have to keep at least one Rolex to carry to my death that could be passed on afterwards. Probably the one I'm wearing as it was my dream watch and it just goes with everything for me.

Wonderful and thoughtful gesture Angelo.
I would love to do the same with mine, however I am in a somewhat different position to you, and a lot of people here.
I have aquired a few watches over the years, but have only had the pleasure of owning my two Rolex for less than a year.
Certainly I want to pass them on to my kids, but I need to wear them a little longer first.
On a similar note, I did pass a nice rifle that I owned for several decades, on to my son a couple of years ago for the same sentimental reason.
Bye the way, the kids enjoy seeing me enjoy my beautiful Rolex watches.
Best wishes, and hope you love the new Stowa.

Thanks guys.
I do have a few other watches that I’ll enjoy wearing plus one on the way.
Don’t know if another Rolex is in my future though.

I love this thread. My wife and I of 25 years never had the pleasure of having children, but I do have two nephews who I am planning on leaving a watch each to. Like many here, I’m going to give them the watches while I can still enjoy seeing them wear the watches. My brothers don’t care or have other priorities than to buy a $10,000 watch to pass down. But it really warms my heart to see all the fathers here on this thread passing on their beloved time pieces to their sons.

Wonderful gesture! Watching your sons enjoy those watches, I am sure will bring you more joy than wearing them yourself.

Cheers,

Apart from being impressed with your generosity, Angelo, the thing that struck me was how fortunate you are to have three fine sons to carry on your line.
That is the real blessing here.

Well, it took about two months but I finally gifted watch #3 today which was the OP39 with the white dial.
This one was set aside for my oldest son who is a doctor and lives in Florida. He flew in with his family yesterday for my youngest grandson’s first birthday party.
The cost was prohibitive to insure it via UPS so I just waited until I saw him in person.
I think it’ll go quite well with his white lab coat.
Needless to say, he was thrilled with the watch.
