Rolex starts running with one half-turn. Unusual, right?

I have three Rolex watches. Two are worn most often, each for a few weeks and then the other. The third is worn less frequently, for a day every 10 days/2 weeks. Interesting thing is the third watch barely needs winding before it starts running -- the first or second turn starts it -- and once it started running when I picked it up. Unusual, right? The other two Rolexes start running after about 40 half-turns. This winding anomaly makes me curious if anyone else has experienced the same thing or something similar? It's not something I'm worried about -- it just surprises me. I fully wind the watch and it runs well when I wear it, typically gaining about a second/day.

I am not sure if there is a rhyme or reason for how many turns. I have one that takes 20-25 turns before it starts, but then others that only take several turns.

Are they different models by any chance?

I had an Oyster Perpetual date from around 2008. As soon as I picked the watch up, the movement would start.

The BLNR, which I started from a dead stop this morning, started moving at about the 18th full wind.

Honestly, it seems my 6-digit Rolex watches take more turns to get going. They also are probably a bit more accurate.

My Daytona takes 12-14turns (full turn)
Day Date 10-12 turns
Submariner Date 20-22 turns
All are six digits.

Lubrication, or lack of friction or torque, is the key to quick starting for a lever action watch.

If the pallet stones, lever, gears, and jewels are all well lubricated and practically friction free, it may start as you pick it up. There is no way to know how many turns of the crown will apply enough push to the lever tail to start the works ticking.

Many thanks, everyone, for all the information. It helps to hear your experiences. The watch is an OP, six digit and newest of the three. Even though I wear it less often, I really like this watch and it's good to learn others see their watches start up with far fewer than 40 turns. It's also reassuring to know I'm not letting it sit around too long -- oil, lubrication are working exceptionally well. :-)

Wear it in good health. And wear it more often. I recently had a scare with one of my watches I don’t get to wear as often as I wanted ever since I got my SS Daytona. It acted up for a few days I was almost sure a trip to RSC was imminent. Mechanical watches need to be occasionally “exercised” it seems.

It's just a sign that that watch wants to please... And be worn more often. Enjoy.

If I wind my GMT II 20 turns or less (probably a lot less, since I don't think I'm doing full turns), it takes a light shake to get it going. I've never wound it more than about 20 turns, so I don't really know.

My SMP300, on the other hand, starts running if I just breathe on it. No, not even breathe, if I just look at it funny. Really sensitve, that Omega.
