I'd rather the LN even if both were MSRP. In this case it would be foolish to pay more for a used watch. But if you really prefer the BLNR then please save and be a bit more patient. Get the watch you want, not the impulse buy as you checkout...

Maybe it’s foolish but definitely the reality if you want a piece that’s in demand bad enough....if you don’t buy what you really want you’ll end up spending more..do it right the first time even if it means paying a little more for what you want

I do not think Rolex will just release this one next year with a new movement. This watch will probably continue to be sought after. Especially with all these rumors flying back and forth about it. If Rolex were to pull it from the lineup then they would most likely wait several years and bring it back out with the newer movement. ?? So buy now. I have had both plain gmt and Batman in my hand next to each other. The blue and black bezel is really special looking. By time you factor in tax you are at 10k anyways from an Ad. If you can afford it buy it now and pay 1500-2000 mark up and rock the crap out of it. That is what I did and I have no regrets. Although i know it is against many members moral code to pay over retail for any watch. Good luck with whatever way you choose.

X2.. had both in my hands...didn’t even know what I was looking at or that the watch was rare as it has become...just liked the blue...it will be worth it in the long run! Since the case is so similar to the sub the look of the LN is so similar...the two tone bezel is awesome and a tribute to the original design of the gmt

All this mumbo jumbo speak of extra $$$ for a BLNR...

Let me put it this way - you buy the LN you'll still have an itch for the BLNR. You get the BLNR and you won't itch for the LN. So there you have it. The heart will always win over mind in the hobby.

I wouldn't spend 11.5k on the BLNR, especially if it's used. I love mine but not for a penny more than MSRP and tax.

If I had to make a decision, I'd take the new LN at MSRP over a used BLNR at a mark-up. What I'd really do is do everything I can to get a BLNR at MSRP.

The most important question here is which watch do you really want? Hold price and availability in a vacuum for moment - would you rather have the black or the black and blue? My guess is that you really want the BLNR (otherwise why would you be contemplating picking up a used one for $11.5?). If that's the case - wait it out and get one new from an AD.

BLNR definitely, but I think you can get it for less. I've seen them pop up here in the classifieds for under $11K, slightly used.

The BLNR just has that bit extra that makes it way more special and almost as versatile as the LN.

LN is timeless classic, BLNR is also nice but mega hyped up at the moment and may lose appeal in future (or maybe not!).

If it was a same price choice, it’d be hard but a $2k premium and used, I think it would be bonkers not going for the LN. But then again if you really want the BLNR right now, be bonkers and go for it..

I have the LN and wear it daily, for me this is the more versatile of the two. That being said but what you prefer as it all comes down to preference. I was lucky enough to get the call from my local AD for a Submariner a few months later and while some people would question having 2 similar black dial sports watches, I appreciate the subtle differences in both.

My advice is get the one you want regardless. I used to play that game of purchasing one watch over another similar watch with the price being the deciding factor, but it always seemed to come back and kick me in the rear. Without fail, I'd end up selling the one I purchased, I'd take a small or large loss, and purchase the one I really wanted later.

Wrestled with both and went LN. Never looked back. Then I put it on a sub bracelet and now have the perfect tool watch for my needs.

Blue is my favourite colour as well, but not when it comes to the BLNR. Having worn 5 digit GMT’s in all available colour schemes over the years, to my eyes the BLNR just doesn’t sing to me like any of the other combo’s does, but having said that, it has a huge fan base, especially here on TRF.

Each to their own I guess.

BLNR because for me, it is more unique than the LN.

So many times I’ve bought a watch that I didn’t truly want just because it was available or it was less expensive...my suggestion is buy the one you want or you will lose even more when you’re trading the LN for the BLNR

The LN is the better looking watch IMHO

Maybe wait until after Basel to see what happens with pricing. I agree that if you really want the BLNR regardless of price and you get the LN you will likely be disappointed. That said, if it were me I would be upset paying that crazy premium. Whether you have the funds or not, it's an issue of principle and supporting the lunacy that is Rolex and their controlled supply of their common SS sport models. At some point this will end.

My grandfather used to go to the car dealer to buy a Cadillac and usually ended up taking an Oldsmobile home for that very reason. One day my uncle embarrassed him by saying he would pay for the car if my grandfather couldn’t afford it. He never came home with another Oldsmobile again. I’m the same way with whatever I buy. I never go home with something less than what I want. I buy it or if I don’t think I can afford it I wait until I can.

If paying the premium is foolish at best to you then there’s your answer.

I mean depends on your style and what else you have. But the issue is not price for me. I like to look at the BLNR, my brother has it. But the LN far far more versatile of a piece. Let’s face it, there is no real functional need for the colors and time zones can be read on both. While I do love the look of the BLRO, BLNR, the other part of me views them as a bit costume like when I have them on my wrist.

I own a BLNR so I’m biased.

If it’s part of a collection, money aside, BLNR all the way.

If it’s an only watch I’d probably err towards the LN. However for me, the only “weakness” of the BLNR is the PCL’s (weakness is a relative term, I love them) in that they can make the watch quite blingy, which may or may not suit all occasions. Since the LN has the same bracelet, in a one-and-only situation I’d consider 116610LN over either of the GMT’s.

I sold my BLNR to buy the LN. I love the green details, and I couldn’t live with the blue...

I would buy BLNR. Yes I know I would pay extra for just a little blue but that's why this watch is so different from the others.
