AP 15400 vs 15500
Hey everyone,
I just picked up my RO 15400 today and saw that the 15500 was just released. What does this mean for the 15400? Are prices going to drop immediately due to it being discontinued? Bonus: Attaching the picture of the 15400 in Ruthenium dial below |

Also do you guys think the 15500 prices will be higher than the 15400? Just curious.

Personally prefer the 15400. I hope that I’m in the minority, otherwise prices will move higher.

Well it really depends. its my personal opinion that the watch community will appreciate the elegance of the dial and thinner case of the 15400 more, however like most watches they might grow on people over time. Lets not forget also that 15500 has a movement that is no slouch.
I do believe that the 15500 will be much more difficult to get in comparison to how hard it was to get the 15400. All these factors combined I believe the secondary market value of the 15400 will maintain for now and not take a dip. At least in the short term. Only time will tell the long term value retention though. |

Blue dial is slightly different on the AP site, not sure if that is accurate, but Ruthenium is now Slate Grey on 550.
Markers are shorter, more like the 300, looks cleaner than with the dash and date, and no bottom dial text. |

I am so confused. Why did AP do this? Are people hearing that the steel royal oaks are going to be produced in more limited numbers?

They have some new 38mm Chrono's that look very tight though, super neat. https://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/wa....OO.1256ST.01/ https://www.audemarspiguet.com/en/wa....OO.1256ST.02/ |

If this is true on model won’t be further produced, then it looks like 15400 is coming to an end as all color in stainless is “availability to be confirmed”. Bummer |

You just got it and already wondering what the prices will be post Mon? That's prob the last thing I'd do...I'd wear that watch and enjoy the fact you could afford it and love the experience. Unless you bought to flip, wait for 5-7-10 years and ask that question then...

15400 should hold its value fine especially that great ruthenium dial!
I’m a big fan of the 15500 though.

Like the 15500 better without the automatic line, the markers however... they made them thicker and now it gives a GP Laureato vibe?
The original is now copying the copycat? The date is better places thanks to the new movement which looks much better and hopefully puts an end to the 3120 issues.

I think they did a great job on this dial changes. Would have been nicer made in 40mm. AP 41mm wears large.

Lets see how that turns out. Also the new dial is slate grey, should be more matt than and less metallic than the ruthenium. |

I think the 15500 will wear smaller on the wrist than the 400 - I do like the new look and it would look awesome on rubber too as feels more sporty than the 400.
Plus new movement is a big boost. That said the 300 & 400s should all hold value well. It’s a classic AP RO in a modern size. It will be in demand unless there is a big cultural shift to small watches in the future.

I for one likes the thicker lume on the hands as well as the larger hour indexes. With that said, I won’t be moving my 15400 to 15500

There have been reports of inaccuracy and date setting issues, as well as some crowns coming off. I owned three watches with the 3120 with no issues, I must say. There must have been something, other than the 3120 looking small on the casebacks that prompted AP to start from scratch...

15500 is very nice. After looking at the new line up from AP site, I didn't see 37mm 15550 and 15500 white dial. Does anyone have info about these?

The thicker marks, the shorter hands and the missing "automatic", which lets the dial for me to be too empty (well someone could say its cleaner now), make me smile that I got the 15400 last year and so I can wear a discontinued model On the AP HP you can see both 400 and 500. Am I correct if I suspect that the 400 will be removed after monday? |

Not quite sure what I should do... I can have 15400 blue dial immediately at retail price or wait for 15500.
From pictures, I would say 15400 but I am tempted by new mouvement (4hz, larger so nicer in the caseback) but don’t like the extra thickness it implies. I am concerned about retained value of 15400 with the new 15500 as well. What you guys think? |

Squarer style on the date font, must be a modern thing as PP did the same on the 5740 dial font v 5712.
