Heavy weight champion is...

Thanks everyone for the notes about my new YM2! I've been asked about weights so I snapped some pics before most of these go back to the bank today. Scale was reset before each weigh-in and each watch has been resized for my 6.5" wrist.

Quite the difference eh? It's funny that the 116718 is the lightest of the bunch. I won't even mention how light steel watches feel to me now.

You can also clearly see the difference in gold tone between the GMTIIc and YM2.

I'm not surprised the 718 is the lightest but wow the YMII is not that far off from the DDII platinum. Thanks for posting and that's the best quartet I've seen bar none.

That sure is an impressive amount of precious metals Mike!

Let me ask you, as strange as it may sound, do you really feel a big weight difference when you wear your GMT and your YM-II or do the numbers look impressive because you don't really notice it on your wrist?

What a brilliant post! I've always wondered how the YM2 in gold would compare to other precious metal Rolexes ....

I can see how once you go heavy metal it's impossible to go back ..

Great question, Carl. I swapped to the GMTIIc last night while putting up Christmas decorations and I could definitely tell a difference. The GMTIIc is lighter and more comfortable fitting while the YM2 has far more wrist presence.

Thank you for the reply Mike, I'm glad to know that!

Note to self: whilst decorating a house for Christmas, wear a lighter all-gold Rolex.

Wow....Thanks for sharing.

Weight is one thing, but after seeing this post I am most impressed with the YM II in YG. I LOVE the shade of YG on that thing!!!!

for context, anyone happen to recall what a DSSD weighs?

mike, given the collection of eye popping and weighty beuaties you have, do you feel any kind of 'letdown' when going to an all SS model?

Sized to my 6.5" wrist and without the diver extension, the DSSD is 209g.

I wouldn't say that I'm let down at all by steel. In fact it's refreshingly light and conveys a toolishness that their precious metal twins don't. I also find that I can wear steel watches looser than heavier models (except the DSSD) as they don't flop around as much.
