Few more pics from my weekend.

Here's a few more pictures from my weekend.

This could be a relative of Chip's dragonfly. I spotted it whilst trying to shoot a bird. I thought it wasn't bad for a long lens setup.

This is a lesser sand plover. I had to get confirmation on the species.

I got too close to this bee-eater and couldn't get him all in. Makes a nice portrait though.

This is a willow warbler, another one I needed help to identify.

Adrain, You are really changing my "impression" of Saudi Arabia.
I really haven't heard much about your area before & "stereotyped" it as baren with nothing but sand & camels.
Thanks for opening my eyes through your camera.
Wicked pictures. Keep them coming.

Great pics, Adrian...really superb!! But obviously nobody's told the bee-eater a damn thing about the birds and the bees....he's not supposed to eat them!!

Funny thing is, most of the people here are not aware of the wildlife around them. For instance last week a hedgehog was run over on the flight line at work. Almost everyone thought it had been someone's pet and not an indigenous animal.

If it's anything like my home town, I bet it's wild at the weekend.

What lense and box are you using for the longer shots?

Thanks,

Mrdi

All the pictures were taken with a Nikon D200 connected to a Nikon 300mm 2.8 VR and Nikon X2 converter. The 35m equivalent is 900mm!!

All my pictures are hand held or by resting the lens on my car window frame.

BTW the lens is heavy and can't hold it up for long with your arms starting to ache.

Lovely shots as usual, Adrian. Even I managed a Willow Warbler last week, seems to be an exceptional year for them... after finding them a bit thin on the ground over the last few years

Oi, that's my bandwidth ;)

cheers,
Andy
