What are your thoughts on the two Explorer II dial options?

All,

I am considering changing my Explorer II from black to white soon. I feel it will freshen up my Rolex and renew my interest in it. Nothing beats a new face.

I know that watch interests may constantly evolve, so I would like to know what the pros and cons of each dial colour are for you right now.

Let's discuss!

Thanks,

Andrew

Personally I would stick with black. I the white dial but it does not suit me as well as the black (I previously owned a white). Perhaps look for a white dial Exp II for sale on this forum to compliment your black?

Good luck with whatever you decide

Cheers

White Dial

I have several Rolex models - all with black dial except one - my 16570 Explorer II. For me, the white dial provides an excellent change of pace from the black dials - it has a fresh "clean" look that is sporty yet can be easily dressed up too.

I recently acquired the end pieces I needed to mount the Jubilee bracelet from my 16750 GMT master - photo attached - and that gives it a whole new look and feel for a "renewed" interest as you put it.

I like the white dial better IMO. I like the idea of buying a second one if money permits!!!

I personally like the white dial better because it looks nice with the black accents of the hands and hour markers. That is a very good look. Plus, the red hand looks great with the white dial.

I have nothing wrong with the black though. But since the Submariner and GMT do not have a white dial option, that makes the white dial Explorer II a favorite choice for me.

I have had two black faced luxury watches now and never got sick of them, like I did the white.

I prefer the white and used to have one but traded it in against a Blue Sub as I felt it (the ExpII) was just too similar to my GMTII.

However, since getting my GMTc - I now wish I still had the Exp and certainly hope to get another one at some stage later next year.

I agree totally!! While Black is the "classic" choice for the 'professional' models...there's something really fresh & clean about seeing a white-dialed Rolex...I guess because it's unexpected? LOL

I have a Z-Serial White Dial, and I like it better becasue it doesn't scream Rolex, as there are not many Rolex white dial sport watches out there.

The white is pretty versitile, as it looks good in a suite or day at the beach. However, I can't think of many Rolex's that wouldn't look good in either situation.
