Need Suggestion offered 26315 grey dial from AD and grey dealer

Hi!
I contacted multiple places for the grey dial 26315st. The AD is able to get me one with a waiting period of a month which I don’t mind at retail plus tax. A grey dealer offered same watch brand new couple thousand under that.

Was wondering which place would you guys choose to buy from? Take the cheaper price? Or build relationship with AD?

Thanks!

What are your goals; add a watch at a better price (assuming reputable dealer/seller) or pay an extra “relationship” vig?

If buying more items in the future, a relationship could help future purchases.

Depends, are you one of those people that wants/needs there name on the card/warranty? Also what's the condition like on the one from the grey dealer? Is it mint with box and paperwork? If the latter and you're not particular on your name on the guarantee then I would go grey (pun intended since it has a grey dial).

I'm relatively new to watches so not sure if i care yet about having my name on the warranty. Do most people care? I am leaning towards the cheaper price

Some people do, some people don't, it varies from person to person. Also the point the @1Orologio made is very valid. If you plan on purchasing more watches down the line/in the future it may be worth establishing a relationship. While 1 watch doesn't make a relationship, it's better than having not purchased anything at all. This helps if you may ever be in a time crunch for I time piece possibly as a gift, or if you in the future want a piece that is more difficult to get or "rare".

I would recommend the boutique or AD. Reasons same as cited above, and knowing it costs a little more.

I would go new. The degree to which a used watch has been polished is critical with AP.
If you can verify that it has not been polished, my answer may change.

New if you plan on buying a few more APs, if not then go grey and save your cash for your next watch.

for $1-2k I’d probably go AD.

if u go grey make sure it’s a super reputable one that you know. having grey dealer issues with any watch sucks; having grey dealer issues w a 30k watch u could’ve gotten for 2k more at an AD would particularly suck.

is that cash price for the grey dealer? If so, I would get it from AD using credit card considering the points.

What's said above is key - Are you considering other AP's? If the answer is yes, definitely wait it out with the AD. The 26315 should hold its value relatively well so your downside is limited.

If you don't intend to buy any other AP's (and keep in mind what you CAN buy from an AD is also very limited), save yourself the money assuming you trust the dealer. This is important. I wouldn't make my decision on what dealer to buy from based purely on price.

Also, nobody's name is on recent AP warranty cards, so that point is moot. You simply register on the website with the Warranty Number and Serial Number.

1 There is no name on the warranty card.
2 There will be no ADs in the near future, Boutique only.
3 If you plan to acquire more hard to get watches in the future, go with the boutique to establish relationship.
4 If the difference in price is more than $2000, I would go grey, but make sure that is the trusted seller.

AP has the best customer service that I’ve come across.

Recommend going to the boutique and experience that.

If not, go for the AD since 1-2K is not a great difference, you are guaranteed a peace of mind

1. AP doesn’t put names on cards, so that reason is out.
2. I’d buy from the grey dealer as long as it is someone with a reputation to save $2,000.
3. Once you get the watch, create an AP account using the serial number and warranty number on the card. If you have an NFC compatible phone, just tap the warranty card on your phone.
4. AP warranty follows the watch.
5. Even if the card was registered before, you can re register to add 3 years warranty from AP. I’ve done that many times.
6. Did I mention that I would do it to save the $2,000?

Would go AD route for peace of mind. You never know if the ones at Grey may be polished or have some issues due to the timeframe between the previous owner to the grey dealer.

For a watch in the tens of thousands price range. 1-2k savings isnt much in the grand scheme of things.

I’m biased, I like ap and the boutique service so would go the boutique route. AD or grey, maybe I’ll go with grey if a reputable seller like DavidSW.
