Very excited about the new Ed White 321. Much more compelling buy to me than a Daytona C. I’m voting with my own dollars on this one.

I'd prefer a Daytona C at retail but I can't get one and I definitely can get this so yeah that's where my dollars are going. Looks fantastic.

Thanks for a great and thoughtful discussion in this thread!
My omega, like Rolex, makes about a million watches per year Omega has been struggling with their internal compass, creating a never ending stream of LE watches that capture a touch of magic from historic models but ultimately doesn’t start the fire. This very much reminds me of panerai when it was Hot, this strategy imho destroyed the brand and left scorched earth for me. Then again, the speedmaster story, guys in space / on or about the moon, is as good as any other watch story out there. Rolex comex, Tensig on Everest, Cameron diving, Newman wearing a Daytona. Where’s the hype? Unlike The Nautilus and the Daytona etc, Omega has been absent of strategy when it comes to controlling the market. This new release of the speedy if done carefully may be the beginning of a new era for omega? For me the 321 is special, not only is it a good looking movement, it has deep and real ties to haute horology. The 321 has been used by Patek and vacheron for many of my grails that remain out of reach. I have appreciated the perfection of legibility of the speedy from the moment I first laid eyes on it. However I have never been a fan of the twisted lugs, the 42mm case , bracelet nor the uninspiring movement. Suddenly omega appears to have a plan! If they execute it well, they will create the buzz, why shouldnt there be as much of a demand for the speedy as the Daytona ? The bottom line is the reason the Daytona is illegible is because omega owns the good design layout. The only reason Daytona uses hollow circles and hands without necessary contrast is because they needed to use something else besides the best chrono dial design out there to distinguish themself. So, I’m buying in on the new Ed white... I’m excited to have a 321 movement in the collection...I’m thrilled to have a legible functioning chrono in a <40mm case... a fantastic bracelet and a case w straight lugs. Oh yeah... I think they nailed it with the very subtle shading of the markers. After owning 3 Daytona’s and always being unsatisfied I am rooting for omega to get their marketing as right as they got the design. if they screw it up the brand is dead to me! For now we know one thing, they gave us something to talk about:)

I agree with this! Once I learned the lesson that I didn't have own every watch I thought was cool life went a bit smoother financially.
