How does the dealership and the AD accept the checks without verifying the funds are there?Or that the account even exists?

Least the AD was smart enough to verify funds. The auto dealership had a band of morons involved in their “transaction”.

Florida man being Florida man, nothing to see here.
I scrolled down and the next article is titled "Florida man allowed to keep obscene window sticker on vehicle". Low and behold the sticker just says "I eat ass." lol |

OK, so these are what we call "Bank Cheques" or cheques issued by a financial institution to "Cash" or ino an individual. You might conceivably accept one for $100. but never much more without it clearing first. That Dealership has to be the biggest bunch of dunderheads ever.

Lol. Used to live in Florida, and while I love it and there are many good people there, there’s a saying that it’s a sunny place for shady people for a reason.

I wrote a check to my dealership for $10,000 the other day and you can bet they checked to see if the funds were there, before I drove off the lot.
I wasn't there when they made the call, but I can't imagine that it takes more than a minute to make that call, punch in some numbers, and make the verification.

The only thing “stupider” to buy with a bogus cashier’s check is a house.

People at the car dealership might have been clueless, but the guy who wrote the check sounds as though he got kicked out of nursery school and never got the chance to advance to the eighth grade. He actually had time to think and consider what he was doing, the others involved may have actually only faced this situation for the very first time. I imagine there are probably people at the car dealership who knew better but just weren't present at the time.
