14790ST clasp replacement

Good morning folks,

I am just entering AP world.

Been a vintage Rolex guys for years, but hey ;)

Just had the chance to acquire quite a strange piece, a 56023ST which had its quartz caliber removed and replaced by AP, by a 2325 automatic caliber. Invoice provided, AP and Buchere contacted in order to verify everything, OK.

They also replaced the caseback with the "quartz" engravings.

Cool hu?

However, it has the old style clasp (the band is I presume a 0789ST, correct me if I have the wrong ref in mind)

I am in the hunt for a more modern and newer clasp version without the external buckle, but despite my research I could not find the exact ref of the needed clasp.

I wondered if I could fit a 15202 deployant buckle.
True question being : is the déployant clasp of the 23mm steel band of a 36mm RO, the same 15mm width than the 26mm strap of the 39mm 15202 for example

Thanks guys

Hey there! Firstly, many congrats! Welcome aboard the AP / 14790 club.
To me, a personal favorite reference these 36mm oaks.
Interesting that they swapped everything out, but as long as it was done by AP, documented, there is no reason why it should be a problem.

You are correct, the old band is the .789, however the newer bracelets/buckle will definitely not be compatible with the 14790. They will also be extremely disproportionate.
The very early examples of the midsize RO could potentially have a flip lock style like a Rolex 9315(0), but later they all came with the external buckle you refer to.
Can I ask out of curiosity why you want to make this swap? The buckle style on the 14790 is extremely easy, slim, and very very efficient.

Lastly, mandatory pictures please! :D
