Why no Love for the new Constellation?
Hi All,
The other day i was at the Omega boutique, where I handled the new 8500 constellation in two-tone, what a watch!! It looked quite good on the wrist, similar to the AP Royal Oak, IWC Ingeniur and the Vacheron Constantin Overseas, as I believe they were all designed by the same person, Gerald Genta. I have noticed on these boards and other WIS forums that no one speaks about the newer Constellations, except the older pie-pans. Here in the Middle-East the Constellation is the most popular Omega model. |

I guess it's the same as with the Rolex Datejust - it tends to be the most popular model, but it's almost completely overlooked by the sports models. I think WISes are more inclined to get excited about a sporty watch than an all-rounder

Probably also because it doesn´t have a rich history like the Speedmaster, its too "ordinary". I like it, and have thought about buying one for some time. I have heard that Omega will introduce som new dials for Basel, so I´m waiting to see. One of the dials should be with "Clous de Paris" like on the AP Royal Oak. |

Well I for one like the Constellation a lot but I think that nowadays big sporty watches are more in, hence its lack of popularity.

I feel the present Constellation looks too, well, busy. I prefer the older design, especially the Pie-pan dial. I have one from the mid sixties. It looks great with a black lizard strap, something I'm not sure you can even do with the present model.
