Why no Love for the new Constellation?

Hi All,

The other day i was at the Omega boutique, where I handled the new 8500 constellation in two-tone, what a watch!!

It looked quite good on the wrist, similar to the AP Royal Oak, IWC Ingeniur and the Vacheron Constantin Overseas, as I believe they were all designed by the same person, Gerald Genta.

I have noticed on these boards and other WIS forums that no one speaks about the newer Constellations, except the older pie-pans.

Here in the Middle-East the Constellation is the most popular Omega model.

I guess it's the same as with the Rolex Datejust - it tends to be the most popular model, but it's almost completely overlooked by the sports models. I think WISes are more inclined to get excited about a sporty watch than an all-rounder

Probably also because it doesn´t have a rich history like the Speedmaster, its too "ordinary".
I like it, and have thought about buying one for some time. I have heard that Omega will introduce som new dials for Basel, so I´m waiting to see. One of the dials should be with "Clous de Paris" like on the AP Royal Oak.

That sounds interesting. Omega is going places. Now just drop the James Bond tie in FFS.

Well I for one like the Constellation a lot but I think that nowadays big sporty watches are more in, hence its lack of popularity.

I feel the present Constellation looks too, well, busy. I prefer the older design, especially the Pie-pan dial. I have one from the mid sixties. It looks great with a black lizard strap, something I'm not sure you can even do with the present model.
