Hey Ed,

Tonight's Lotto Powerball has escalated to a whopping 14.5 million dollars. If I win, you get the Patek....it's as simple as that!! Seriously and in all honesty, my good friend!!

I think it's in the 1 million region. But how about this one, the Vacheron Constantin Tour de l'Ill? Have complications, will travel (1 million EURO!!!). Only 7 will be made.

Frans.

Now you're really talking my kind of watch, Frans. JJ, when you win the lottery, I think I'll take this one over the PP. Oh, yeah.

I bet the manual is as thick as a New York phone directory But, will it take a shower? Can you picture this? A 1,5 million dollar watch ruined by the fool who took it under the shower

Take care,

Frans.

Yes, how did you guess? Watches like these are pure watch porn (no JJ, not the PO) and also demonstrate what the large manufactures can accomplish. And, it also looks like a contest: who can cram the most dials, hands and functions in a wrist watch?

"Watch porn"??? LOL, that's a new one on me!!

But I do beg to differ and disagree to a certain extent. Such high-tech, complicated watches consume several thousand man hours of very intiricate and pain-staking work. Each watch is pure genius, a mechanical marvel, too complex and complicated for all but a select few to even begin to comprehend.

Therefore, I would have nothing but pure unadulterated admiration for such a watchmaker....his patience, his brilliance, his craft and the computer which he has for a brain!!

Yes, these watches are obscenely expensive.....way out for most of us, anyway...but when you think of the effort that has gone into producing such a mechanical masterpiece, I think the prices more than justify the superb quality of the end product.

That's what I wrote but it took me only one sentence JJ, I see those watches as a 'tour de force'. They show what can be accomplished when money and time are no object. Actually, those movements are designed on the computer!

Take care,

Frans.
