Incoming…and wife converted

Well, for many years, my wife had warned me not to get her a watch as a gift. One time, I got her a diamond bracelet and my jeweler put it in a big box that looks more like a watch box. It was fun making her thinks that it was a watch, with a dreadful look she had until she opened the box.

But tastes change…

I’m 50 years old this year and have decided to get a few watches to celebrate. We went to the Rolex Boutique and of course there’s nothing there. However, the SA was wearing a Daytona and my wife surprisingly really likes the look of the Oysterflex. Since then, we’ve been back and saw some exhibition models. I bought my 3 watches and she teases me every time I take pictures of my wrist. But I caught her looking at the Rolex website, particularly a Everose Gold Daytona with Oysterflex.

Christmas is coming and it would be impossible to get such a piece at an AD given my limited to relationship. Buying at retail was painful, but I want to seize the moment. I surprised her with the watch, and it hasn’t left her wrist. The funny thing is that she now even wants to wear my Patek and we could even swap down the road. She’s definitely converted to a watch person.

So for those of you who have wife, girlfriend, etc. who are complaining about your crazy watch hobby, there’s light at the end of the tunnel!

Enough talk. Let’s look at some watches…

Congratulations!! I can’t agree more about conversion. After my wife got her first, she’s doing all the things that I used to do, and she used to make fun of: randomly staring at the wrist for seconds at a stretch, taking pictures of the watch, matching it with clothes. That’s when you know…. Conversion Complete

Agreed. My missus has two DJ’s of her own and they both look like she puts them in the washing machine. No way would I let her touch one of mine!

Congrats OP, nicely ‘converted’.

Congrats to you and your wife! I have not been able to get my wife enthused about watches yet. I am persistent, so maybe one day.

Nice! Totally agree, the everose gold Daytonas are such nice pieces and it seems women in particular appreciate these pieces. I’m trying to get my wife to wear my new Explorer.. the 36mm fits nicely even on small wrists and it’s a good reason for me to to add another watch to my collection without feeling like the numbers are only going up

Did you end up going grey for the Daytona or was able to get it at the AD?

The funny thing is that my wife actually takes special care of her jewelry while my watches are all scratched up. Luckily she’s not on this forum to see your comments or else I won’t be able to “borrow” the Daytona

Definitely feels like I added another watch to my collection. Shhh…don’t tell anyone.

I did go grey for the Daytona with a trusted seller here. Definitely a big premium over MSRP but given where I live and my limited relationship, it won’t be possible to buy this at an AD.

Damn... quite the "starter Rolex"

Congrats! Getting wife converted is reason enough to celebrate.
(Mine is on her 4th... I've told her I'm done but we all know these are like crack cocaine...)
