Ceramic diver dial

Hi all,

I've just read that the ceramic diver dial is not tapisserie as most, but is instead stamped, does anyone know about this, Won't stop me from getting mine but I thought it was tapisserie dial, when you look at pics you see it's different than the FC diver dial for example.

I am not sure how the dial on the Ceramic is made but it looks better than the dial on the FC. I had the previous version (non-display back) of the SS Diver which had the same dial as the FC.

I thought the dial looked kind of sloppy. For some reason the combination of the engine turned concentric circles when juxtaposed with the waffle squares, the edges of the squares look crooked.

The Ceramic dial looks a bit more "sterile" but cleaner, like the dials they use in the 44MM and the latest 42MM ROOs and I prefer it.

Yeah you don't see the texture on the dial that exists with 15202/15300/15400. I would rather have that beautful texture because it evokes craftsmanship to anyone who has seen the dial making process. That said, I can forgive because it's a great package.

I believe all Offshore dials are stamped; for tapisserie you have to buy the original Royal Oak.

Mabye they may have changed for the newer ones now that AP makes all their dials inhouse.
definately looks stamped for the ceramic in hi-res photos

also noticed it in the 15710st http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=407583

But my 15703 Diver's dial is definately made using a pantograph.

macro dial comparison

Yeah the high res pics of the ceramic show very well that it's stamped and not made with a pantograph, at the same time it's not so bad as the dial is matte whereas the tapisserie dials are usually shiny it seems.

definitely more sporty without the texture, which is appropriate for the ceramic diver.

Yes, the dial of ceramic and FC are different. Personally, I find the stamped mega tapisserie dial looks more clean-cut and modern which suits the RO Offshore better. For petit and grand tapisserie dials, engine-turned is the only way for me

That is correct, the dials which do not have fine texture (most modern offshores except 15703 and fc diver) are made using a stamping technique rather than cut on a pantograph.
