Girard-Perregaux
Girard-Perregaux is not talked much about on these forums.
In the modern collection, what is the best model or models in your opinion? |

I think the 1966 collection is pretty neat, although the movements is on the small side for the cases.

Most brands don’t get talked about here, so I wouldn’t single out GP for special mention.
For more exposure to brands beyond PP, AP, FPJ, and AL&S, spend time on PuristSPro. As for current GP models – Laureatos are the principle ones, and the 1966 for dressier occasions. By the same token, if you like ROOs, then you have the Chrono Hawks (inc. ceramic case models), and if you like Art Deco tonneau a la Reverso, then you have the 1945 Vintage. http://www.watchprosite.com/page-wf....28/pi-6437698/ http://www.watchprosite.com/page-wf....33/pi-6695153/ http://www.timelessluxwatches.com/br...l-moon-phase-1 – images too big to display inline. If the original YM be a bit of an old favourite, then you may enjoy the Sea Hawk, with the 1000M versions getting on for DSSD thickness/bulk – and then there’s the 300M Pros if you need further bragging rights! http://forums.watchuseek.com/f67/gir...w-1073617.html Should you be beguiled by tourbillons, then you’re going to have a hard time tearing yourself away from the triple bridges. |

^ Thanks for the comments. Was in no way singling out G-P, just curious. The anniversary Laureatos look amazing, and was hoping to learn more.

I have the 41mm 1966 classic and find it looks great, keeps great time and wears very comfortably. It is a bit big for a dress watch, even on my 8" wrist, but I do like the dial and the blued second hand.

I kind of like their bridge system, wether 2 or 3, but out of my price league and the other pieces are not really for me

I like their recent editions and the 1966 collection. The brand is definitely on my radar. Pre-owned prices are fabulous!

Speaking of the Laureato, here's a side-by-side-by-side of the three generations:

I really like the 1966 chrono in white gold. I particularly like the dial layout, very reminiscent of the PP 5170. I also love the case design and how the strap looks quite integrated with the lugs. it is a great looking watch at very interesting prices on the grey market.

I like the side by side. Thanks for sharing. GP makes a really fine watch. Very underrated. But if you have flip-itis you'll take a real hit on value.

The 1966 steel is on my radar. Unfortunately I haven't seen a pre-owned one for sale & am hesitant to buy a new one due to rumors of a weak resale market for basic GP pieces.
That new Laureato is really nice as well. |

They just announced a WT to the 1966 line. Classic Cottier design, crowns at 9 and 3, and will be available in steel.

You don’t have to buy though eBay – you can easily find Timeless Luxury’s website, and speak with Dan on the phone or by email.
You’ll find many of Dan’s Grand Seiko (and possibly other) in-depth reviews on WUS – if you need further convincing that he’s one of the good ones. |

I like a lot of GP models, but from the more modern line ups I really like the worldtimers best.

1966 38mm is beautiful in WG. I also like the new '66 40mm in stainless steel.
