My SMP stopped working
I spent the last week in the Riviera Maya (had a GTG with Gerardo - topic of another thread) and decided to wear my SMP for the trip. The last evening, I was on my run and it stopped working! I played with it by changing the time, date, winding it, etc. to no avail. I had it serviced in early 2008, but it's been worn/running only about 6-months cumulatively since then. I bought it in 2000 and this is the first time I've ever had a problem (other then time regulation prior to service). Very frustrating! Oh well, shipping it off to someone here in the TRF community.

Sorry to hear. I love mine, had one since 1998, but found that you had to treat it as a manual wind not an automatic. I've had three and all were the same. Can't say for sure but suspect it's just too heavy to the rotor to spin enough to keep the movement wound. Know you tried winding it but sometimes I would have to give my first one almost 100 turns. I had blisters. Hope it's a simple fix.

Hmm, but why would it work "automatically" for over 11 years then need such extensive hand-winding? I wound it 20x or so (keep in mind it was running normally prior to this situation) with no restart. I shook it, tapped it, etc. It's been shipped via USPS Registered mail. Thanks for the response though, Rod.

Watches are made to run , not sit and run 6mths out of 4 years. Just my 2 cents.

Turns out the mainspring broke. I called Swissservice and they said they do NOT replace the mainspring when they service their watches.

I'm surprised . Mainspring replacement should be part of a full service. Hope you get it fixed soon and your not without it too long.
