Anybody hear of an Explorer Pepsi?
Anybody ever heard of an Explorer Pepsi :)
I popped the flash just before opening the shutter for a long exposure in a dimly lit room. This got the ancient lume going again. The Pepsi is about to be sacrificed as we go out into the cold to flood our ice rink in the back yard. We have to put a bit of rum in the Pepsi to keep it from freezing:) |

I actually prefer it straight up, but we don't have any good rum tonight. Just finished flooding the rink. We live on a lake and I, along with a few neighbors clear the snow and make a rink every winter. The one this year is 75x125 feet.

Very nice Rob. I would love to see the Explorer on a leather strap! Maybe on a wine bottle.

No leather here. I have a nylon webbing one or a resin dive strap that would fit it.
I bought a vintage Jubilee that should arrive in a week or so. It spent most of its life on Jubilee bracelets. I think the first was a USA version. The latest was lost in the car accident and the watch maker put on what Rolex sent him as a replacement bracelet, an Oyster. Robert |

I think the jubillee would look really good on your Explorer. I wanted to put on a Jubillee for my Explorer, but the End-Links do not fit. Also, I don't have the money. I'm surprised the lume still glows after all these years!

As for the lume, the lume in the hands is either dead or missing and the stuff on the dial is probably from the refinish job 30 years ago. The full power pop of the flash makes it glow pretty bright for a few seconds. In normal use, it is only visible when it is pretty dark and my eyes have adjusted. On my 1980's vintage 15010 Date, with Tritium lume, the lume is dead now and even popping it with a flash doesn't create any glow. Robert |

I don't think a jubillee would fit. The newer explorer has solid endlinks.

Since I put the Explorer on a Nato strap it got me thinking about different ways to photograph it.
Here are a couple with a hockey theme :) |
