Speedmaster Bracelet - Issues?

Does anyone else hate the new bracelet on the Speedmaster?

I grabs my arm hairs and just feels uncomfortable compared to my rolex

Wondering if I’m the only that feels this way

Speedy is certainly a far cry from a Rolex bracelet.

It was stiff when I first purchased the 3861 bracelet. When I put it on and off, it pulled my hair sometimes. That took 2 days and then it became as comfortable as a bracelet can be

One possible solution (sorry for stating the obvious here):

I have tried on the late model Speedy with the flatter bracelet links and am not a fan. I think the 3570 model oval profile links are stronger, wear more comfortably and I don't understand why some people malign the bracelet.

It's been decades since I got my first OysterQuartz, but I recall how tightly the flat, beveled links fit together and how they pulled arm hairs. All bracelets free-up a bit with wear and become more comfortable.

It works for some and not for others … I thought it was comfortable YMMV

You are not the only one who feels this way. This "pinching" issue has been discussed here previously.
For me, I bought the 3861 after reading all the rave reviews. Great looking watch and bracelet. Also my first Omega. Could not believe how annoying the wearing experience was with the bracelet pinching or whatever. Kept looking for sharp edges. Went back to my older Tag Aquaracer for the most part. Then the fake Speedy came out from Swatch complete with the Omega logo. Really? Then in October got a completely unexpected call from the Rolex AD that the 124060 Submariner I requested 18 months prior was there with my name on it if still interested. Handed over $8950 + tax and sold the 3861 thru a trusted seller. Took a $1000 hit. Just saying.

No way! The new Cal3861 Speedy bracelet is the best yet.

Although a looooooong way away from a Rolex bracelet. It's unfair to even compare.

Yes, this is one of the reasons I sold my speedy. It does look stunning however and a much better option than any of omegas other horrendous looking bracelets.

It’s unfair to even bring up Rolex lol…. Bracelets are light years ahead of Omega.

I will say my Ed White bracelet is incredible and 100% on par with Rolex. I know Omega uses this flat link bracelet variant on a few other watches, can’t comment on if it’s the exact same as the Ed White (I think they are slightly different in terms of endlinks) but if they are at all close they will be top notch.

I dislike the 3861 bracelet because of the taper, never really had an issue with hair pulling. Forstner and Uncle Seiko make some great alternatives although they are obviously not the same quality as Omega. I usually rotate between a Forstner 1450 and NATO straps.

+1 on the Forstner recommendation

I had a problem with the clasp on my Ed White coming apart, it was replaced by Omega and I wear the watch on a leather strap now. I've never had that problem, or any other, with a Rolex bracelet!
