I've had both on the wrist and objectively (or not ;-) I believe the GMT is far better looking...The Daytona is more rare as a sample of online listings will testify.

It looks exquisite in my opinion, I can just sit there and stare at it, but it’s not mine to trade, I bought it for my dad just before Xmas.

both are rare
daytonas are finally hitting the dealerships now, so I’d say equal at the moment.

the gmt makes more sense in the history of rolex and space (astronauts wore gmts into space and there was an Pan Am albino 6542 gmt in the 50s)
but yes its a personal thing.

Since no one else wants to do the search on chrono24…

“Rolex GMT Meteorite” - 86 watches found, roughly 40% above MSRP

“Rolex Daytona Meteorite” - 206 watches found, roughly 150% above MSRP.

“Rolex Daytona Meteorite 116509” - 45 watches found, roughly 150% above MSRP.

So there’s more Daytona meteorites than GMt meteorites out there, but any individual Daytona meteorite is more rare than GMT meteorite. Demand is higher for Daytona meteorite than GMT.

Chrono is not that great of a gauge. Dealers list watches all the time that they don’t have in stock in order to get a lead and who knows for whatever other reason.

Why assume that dealers would list more of the GMT over the Daytona or vice versa?

I think it is the Daytona that is pretty much rare.

I just picked up the GMT after about 7 months. There's an incoming post in a separate thread. As I mentioned, the dealer said 1 or 2 of these GMTs in a year. Assume that varies by dealer.

Which meteorite is more rare - Daytona or Pepsi

If we define “rare” to include the installed base plus new shipments, and consider the odds of finding a meteorite Daytona vs. GMT, then the GMT would be comparatively more rare. Rolex has been producing meteorite GMTs since 2019.

The meteorite Daytonas began production many years before then, thus the likelihood more Daytonas would be in circulation.

Maybe meteorite Daytonas are more effective at generating leads? If more people are looking for them that would be the case. It is a newer release as well…

It’s widely known a lot of Chrono listings are not watches in stock.

Great pic, would love to see more as we share the same skin tone and taste for GMT's

I have seen meteorite dials that look great and then there are those that don't and are a bit "washed out". All are special...but some just seem to look more "meteoritely". Sold a DD40 just because of this issue. Have a GMT meteorite that I think looks great and have been told by some folks in the know that the GMT is much harder to get these days.

As an owner of one, I can tell you the dial looks different in nearly every picture I have taken. And I’ve taken a lot in six weeks of ownership. Lighting and angles produce wild variations in dial appearance.

I bet they all look great in person. Like all my exes.

I was told by my AD that the Pepsi with meteorite dial is far more rare as 6+ more Daytona models on bracelet OR Oysterflex are being produced with meteorite dials. I would love to own a meteorite dial professional model and I am not even picky on the metal finish/color so the manager there suggested to just request a Daytona as it would be easier to receive one from the larger number of meteorite Daytonas in production.

Get the one you like.

Hard to tell if all 6 configurations are produced in aggregate, more than the BLRO but that said, the BLRO has been released for longer (but could also be discontinued earlier).

My personal choice is the BLRO. It jives well with the theme of a GMT watch, a nod to the Pan Am GMT, and there's a full dial to admire the meteorite vs. the Daytona with 3 cutouts.

Definite minority but that’s okay. More meteorite for me.
