Does anyone know if the bezel on an older Seamaster 300M (Part # 212.30.41.20.01.002) can be replaced with the ceramic bezel on the new Seamaster 300M (Part # 212.30.41.20.01.003)? I have read posts that it cannot be done, but I visited an Omega boutique over the weekend and a representative assured me that the new bezel would fit. He claimed that one of the in-store watchmakers had done this MOD on their personal watch.

I've actually been wondering this too. Did the boutique staffer tell you if they changed the entire bezel ring or just fitted the actual ceramic insert into the older one? If so I wonder what the ceramic insert costs roughly.

If the swap is physically possible I cant say, but I seriously doubt that Omega will do it. They are becoming increasingly strict in this area. I know of people working for Omega who have made custom pieces with original parts, but of course they also have access to them...But I dont think Omega will supply a ceramic bezel for an older non ceramic model.

The staffer told me the entire bezel must be changed as the insert is not removable on either of these models. He did say Omega wouldn't do it but they would supply the part. Off memory he said the ceramic bezel was in the $500's and the aluminum in the $300's.

If you're interested and can get the part from that same dealer I would do it ASAP. Morten has a point and it makes sense as they attempt to further increase service revenue. Tighter control on spare parts will mean even more watches going back to the Swatch Group for this to be done. Rolex did this ages ago but although difficult there often seems to be a way.
