Maria - Hurricane Maria - Irma's twisted sister

Sadly, with the Caribbean Islands & Florida Keys still picking up the pieces from Hurricane Irma, tomorrow will bring Maria to the Leeward Islands (at least in her early stages). The Keys are also in the crosshairs next week since Maria seems to be following a similar path.

Hope it's mostly rain - but apparently Maria will strengthen overnight.

Be safe - second time around...

One of my coworkers was going to the DR on Friday.
She's scrambling to find another vaca destination at the moment, they told her she was fine after Irma. Now it's Category 4. :(
That's a risk I guess with hurricane season.
Stay safe TRF!

Ironically I saw a livestream from a DR resort and people were all sunning apparently unconcerned. I'd be flying away now...

Hopefully the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico and all the others can get ready swiftly.

Unfortunately the spaghetti models all concur through the middle of this week, and the middle of Puerto Rico.

Yes - I just saw that 160mph - poor Dominica...

Two years ago a much weaker storm - Erika - devastated the same island:
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-34091475 and

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...m-erika-damage

Prayers for those people tonight - and the others who will face Maria this week...

Very strong Cat 5 now. Huge winds for already damaged structures and worn out people.

Poor Puerto Rico - 100% of island has no electricity. Their sacrifice has dropped Maria to Cat3.

The wind field expanded so more bad wind raked the entire island.
