I believe they make/made boots for the military and make the official "Post office" shoe, for delivery men.

Wear your normal socks. You want them to form fit your feet. Heavier socks protect your feet, but will change the way they fit.

A trick I learned in the Army, when boots were made of dinosaur hide. Wear the boots barefoot and walk around until you feel all the pinch points. Apply bandaids to the pinchpoints for the first 10-20 hours of wear. After that, they should be softened enough to be fairly comfortable without the bandaids.

Thanks for the tips Abdullah!
I've been wearing them for about 2 hours now around the house and to get some groceries, still pretty comfy to be honest. Wearing my normal cotton socks as always.

Beautiful! Love the tip about the socks. I'll wear dress socks for a spell the next time I get a new pair ...

My brother swears by them. He's been wearing the same pair since 2002.

Do you happen to know if Fryes makes any Good Year Welted shoe or boot? Or any boot or shoe that is constructed with some form of sewn on sole?

Would you happen to know where Fryes actually makes their shoes and boots?

Sorry, but to be honest I can think of quite a few other brands which make a much better boot or shoe that I would recommend over Fryes.

Their soles are sewn leather. I could take a picture of mine tomorrow if you like. They are actually America’s oldest shoe company and they are made in New York.

I actually own both. Have a great pair of Iron Rangers that are about half way broken in. Love them.
Also picked up a pair of Frye boots - believe it was the prison boot. Can tell you very well made, extremely comfortable and no need for a break in period.

Just did some googling: Apparently, prisoners in Arkansas get goodyear welted, American-made boots, which Frye is selling for $378.

Meanwhile, the average non-incarcerated American is wearing crappy $75 shoes from a Cambodian sweatshop.

Tax dollars at work It's like we're living in the Twilight Zone

They're awesome boots. Well made goodyear welt made in USA. Not sure I wanna spend time in the crowbar motel in Arkansas to get a pair for free but I've had mine for 3 years and they still look good as new.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if they made any or not. Somehow based on what I've seen and because they do sell boots that are not, cheap comes to mind when I think about Fryes boots.

For the facts on boots, any boots? Ask Jerry Hall of Saba's, North Scottsdale

Hopefully not. Hopefully they're a whole lot smarter than those who spend that much for a pair of crappy throw aways.
