Iconic Pateks

It seems like every brand has their own iconic models.

Which models are Iconic when it comes to Patek?

Without a doubt the 5070...One of most sought after discontinued collector pieces that were made for short period of times in limited quantities. The platinum for example made only for one year and supposedly only 200 or so were made.

How about the 5153 Officers watch?

Would the Nautilus fall in this category as well.

Can't say the same for the 5153 but the Nautilus line certainly is an Iconic line IMHO.

I agree with Ken on the 5070, I would like to add the RG 5101 to this list

The Nautilus for sure. The Calatrava line doesn't really have anything to ID them as Patek's I think. The 5070 is stunning

I think the 5140 is the most iconic Patek.

Not nearly the most expensive but so thin elegant and classy I think its screams patek and nothing is more functional than the Perpetual calendar IMHO

I've seen this reference a number of times at various ADs, great looking watch.

Not that I disagree but since you talked about the 5140 I'd like to suggest the 5146, it doesn't have a perpetual calendar but it still has a very similar design and it's quite a classic (in my humble opinion).

Otherwise I don't think it's possible to forget the 5131! My favorite is the yellow gold version with the enamel dial.

I agree Carl for a while I was thinking about buying a 5146 but for some reason they are kind of looked down upon by collectors. I think just because of how similar they are in looks as you mentioned to the 5140 and the fact that you dont have to reset the 5140 for 100 years is a technological feat although dont many many decades ago is still appreciated by horologists today

All the same both are superb watches

The perpetual calendar is a great feature indeed but myself would probably prefer the annual calendar, there's something in the "I have to set my watch a bit more often" that sounds good to me!

May I suggest this one as well? The 5960 may be fairly new but I think it has a classic design!

I adore these watches, the lack of bracelet makes my choice very limited.

yup , I agree
the 5070 is a special one

Some always answer the Calatrava ... but what is a Calatrava, they have made more than 100 different watches made since the firts Calatrava

The 5070 on the other hand is just 1 sought after chronograph
