is the glidelock system tough ? is it gonna ever fail ? is it nicely engineered ?

It is well engineered but only time will tell if the design is tough enough.

There's actually TWO glidelock systems the subc and DeepSea glidelocks are totally different - the DeepSea glidelock allows you to make adjustments WITHOUT taking the watch off whereas the subc glidelock means you have to take the watch off to make adjustments.
The DeepSea engineering overall is remarkable. |

Since Rolex re-engineered the glidelock this last year my guess is that they worked the bugs out.

i really like the new clasp but i prefer the weight of older models. I found it uncomfortable to wear my ceramic gmt all day.

Thank you for the photos. I have two original Glidelocks and have had no issues. Looks like the first link coming out of the mechanism is solid such that it does not cantilever against the mechanism.

good points but i'd be more concerned with the integrity of the much smaller pin connecting the fold-over not visible when worn. that't the part that won't hold up. the other concerns seem more cosmetic and not a fail prone issue. i've also had more issues with link pins coming loose on the 6 digit ref# rolexes. never had a pin come loose on my last geb 5# refs even without loctite. my newer models seem more prone to unscrewing on their own.
