Blancpain Fifty Fathoms

Hi guys,

Even though I'm a die-hard Rolex guy, there's something very attractive in the Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms watch!

Just love the curbed bezel, the numeral markers 3, 6, 9 and 12 on the dial, very similar to the Explorer. Sort of a mix between a submariner and explorer.

Is there anyone who owns one on this forum?

I'd love to hear some user feedback on it.

lol , me too , but they are nice , id really like a zenith mango diver , at some point , i like the 4 oclock ish date position.

Nice watch, I strongly considered one.
Went back and forth for a couple mths, tried em on.

Just could never fall in love.
I have never been bothered by AR coating before but for some reason
its so purple on the FF it drives me nuts at certain angles.

If you buy, buy used. There have been a couple members here whove owned
them and most have ended up selling at a sizeable loss

I don't have one, but I definitely will. I absolutely love the watch. Comfortable, beautifully made, and very versatile. The bracelet is amazing, and must be seen in person to appreciate it. I also really like the "All Black" version...super stealth.

I just had a long talk about this watch with one of my cousins, who is also a watch enthusiast.

And we came to that we both LOVE IT!

So now it's left to see which one of us buys it first...

The bad thing is that I've had my eye on a gold, W-gold sub for a while, and was I to get this one instead, I'm putting off my gold sub for at-least 12-18 months...

I do not have a Blancpain 50 Fathoms... Yet! But I definitively will in a near future.
I love this watch, which not only is a wonderful dive watch, it also got a very colorful history like the Submariner (which by the way, is my favorite watch and I own several variations).
The 50 fathoms was used by Jacques Cousteau, among other famous users, and the present model keeps more or less faithfully, the classic lines of the original model of the 1950´s.
Not to mention that Blancpain is a maker of very high quality watches.
It is a rather big watch if compared with a Submariner though, and do not know your personal feelings about really big watches. You should try one in an AD first and decide yourself.
I have this beautiful watch in the traditional and plain configuration you show in the photo, in my wish list (it is offered in several other variants of course, including gold case, chronograph, etc., but this is the model I like best.

I do have a DSSD, so I'm quite fine with big watches.

I'm actually a huge Cousteau fan, and building a 1meter model of his "Calypso" at the moment! It doesn't exactly help, I'll tell you that!

My neighbor has one. Got him all fired up when I mistook it (from a distance) of being a Submariner. I could be wrong but I think the FF actually pre-dates the Sub.

one of my ADs has one and i was wearing it for a short time while he was serving my bro in law....

beautiful watch i must say, but i dont think it is one of those "i'd still like it in 6 months time" type of watch... the "curved" bezel is quite cool also

Well, if you like BIG watches, you´ll live the Blancpain!
I got also a DSSD, but can´t fell in love with it. I have a Panerai Pam 111 which I love, but prefer the standard Submariner size better.

Anyway, I will buy a Blancpain 50 Fathoms in a near future, no doubt.

By the way, I have been a fan of Cousteau since I was a child, that is very, very far away, as I began reading his adventures around 1960!
I have a small replica of the Calypso, very detailed, but no a meter long!!
I guess it is about 40 centimeters, but very detailed.

There is a very nice book about the Calypso, showing the interior, and many photos, ideal to look at to make an accurate scale replica.

This book is a must for any lover of Calypso and Cousteau´s adventurers.

this was my AD friend's 50 Fathoms... an awesome one at that imo.

I love the look of the all-white Fifty Fathoms. It is very expensive and large (45 mm). For me, a watch that expensive has to be something that I totally and completely love. I still enjoy looking at my Yachtmaster after almost 10 years.

Like 7.5 or maybe 7.75, I'm not sure. I went from a LVc to this one and just love it! Here's another picture.

I do want to get the X-71 bracelet as I've heard that it's incredible.
