Oris Service

Any Oris owners sent their watch in for service to Oris recently? My 11-yr old Big Crown needs a CLA and I've heard that Oris is pretty slow these days; a local retailer said that 8 weeks is pretty normal turnaround. Is this worth it or should I just take it to a quality local shop to have it done?

Oris is slow and not fun to deal with....
I have a client who bought one when he was on a cruise
and has had nothing but problems with it and with Oris
service.
The watch has come back twice and both times the case
was in worse shape than when it was sent in and the "repair"
ended up causing other problems both times....
He told me he finally had it with their service and the problems
and ended up selling it on EBay.

Interesting. My Oris has run perfectly for more than 10 years, so quality hasn't been an issue. Maybe I won't send it in but find a local competent watch guy.
Any one else have experiences with Oris service?

locally, we have a shabby Oris service center from about 5 years back, though don't know if they improved. I walked away from the brand from 4 years back because of the shabby service.

Don't get me wrong, the watch is very good, mechanical watch focus, good design. it's the after sales service that did the brand in for me.
