Hello from Atlanta
Long time watch enthusiast, yet I somehow missed this forum until recently. I’ve been into watches as long as I can remember, beginning with Swatch watches when I was a kid.
In college I saved up for my first nice watch, a Tag Kirium. It was my daily watch until I got engaged in 2005 and received a white dial Explorer II as my early wedding gift. Since then I purchased and sold a few watches, but will always have that Explorer. I also have a Panerai 312 and B&R 93-02. At my peak Rolex I had the milgauss GV and platinum YM 40mm, which I really regret selling. Last October I got an Apple Watch and for around 8 months pretty much wore that exclusively. Then one day around a month ago we went to a nice dinner and I wore the 312 and it was like an epiphany. What was I thinking these last few months?! I have (and love) these nice watches and I never wear them! For what, so I can count my steps? Pfft. Anyway, I had my brain back and also got the itch to fill out my collection again, which is what brought me here. I have been a TZ and Paneristi member for around ten years, but I knew I wanted another Rolex, particularly the DSSD. I recently came to a deal on one (thanks to these forums) and will have it in a few days. I can’t wait! As an aside, as someone who hadn’t been following the market for a few years, I was soooo shocked at the prices / availability! I remember when I got my GV I was also looking at Pepsis and Kermits and they’ve doubled in price. I also remember helping my sister get a 15% discount on a new GMT for my brother in laws 40th. It appears those days are long gone! |
