5167 acting weird

Took it out of the safe three days ago, wound it, set the time & date and left the house, when I got in the car I felt my hand shaking and noticed that it was the rotor spinning like crazy, took it off and it was still going.

I did not make a movement that would get the rotor going so fast, turned the watch around and it was stopped.

Wound it again and put it back on my wrist and it seemed fine, been wearing it ever since until a couple of hours ago when it stopped...

Tried to wind it but the crown felt funny, harder to turn that usual, so I set it down and will take it to the watchmaker tomorrow.

Anybody experienced something similar? The rotor just going off on its own?

Not normal.....

The rotor should spin freely one direction and the other direction should be little resistant for winding....

Sorry to hear this. How old is the watch? Hope it’s a quick repair, if needed.

Sounds like the mainspring dumped its energy through the winding mechanism.
Something definitely isn’t right, and getting it looked at rather than hoping it was a one off, is the correct course of action.

It’s about 5 years old.

That’s what I thought.

Turns out a screw from the dial came loose and was creating havoc, fortunately it did not damage nor scratch anything and the watch is all good again.

Where did you bring it? It was only a couple weeks from your last post to it's fixed.

Other than pricing, one of the things that holds me back from this brand is what I understand to be slow, very expensive service (understand my service cost thinking comes from owning Rolexes and Omegas).

I took it to my watchmaker, he told me he would look at it and let me know if it needed to go to PP.

The turnaround was actually a couple of days.

The guy has worked on all my watches and I trust him.
