Cartier Santos or Glashutte PanoMaticLunar

Struggling with a decision, I want them both but can only get one right now. Which would you get and why?

GO for sure. Stunning movement. Better overall finish. Fun and practical movement with large date.

Design aside, they're two totally different tiers of watch making.

Also, both trade under retail.

Is the Santos found new under RRP now? I've heard of an occasional discount (maybe tax), but the two to three Cartier retailers I've visited the last few years wouldn't entertain even a penny off.

GO I can get 15% or more all day long with a multiple brand AD I've done business with.

The Cartier is a legend and definitely carries more universal brand cachet, but I agree that the GO packs much more horological prowess. Certain GO's on the pre owned said can be darn near larceny.

GO. Much more versatile. Looks great on the bracelet, leather strap, or nylon strap. One of the few watches I own that gets unsolicited compliments.

Speaking of Cartier...

I see on their website right now (12/26), all their models have a "request price". Even their stainless models. The prices were available to see even a few days ago.

Bummer...

I think we are about to see a bump in prices.

I’d like to see a side by side picture as I’m not familiar with either enough to compare.

The santos first and then the GO. I would buy both slightly pre-owned from a reputable dealer.

Discount from grey dealers. Not sure how they get them and can sell below MSRP; I see some in SG

This a difficult one. Totally different watches. I have the Santos medium and this GO but green dial. Cartier has the history but the GO has a better movement and finishing. The GO does have a pretty load rotor which I find a bit annoying. Good luck on your decision

How is that green in person? Pictures of it look very good and is something I’m considering. I feel any collection needs a Cartier, the GO would be a dress watch not worn as often as the Cartier. But I want both.

I love the green dial. I have mine on the brown nubuck strap. I wouldn't really consider it a dress watch since it is quite thick at 12.7mm.
I agree, every collection needs a Cartier.

That green looks good, plays well on black or brown strap. Don’t think I’ve seen an OG in the wild, that’s definitely a draw for me.

Santos. If you’re buying new you can get an 8 year warranty. Cartier is the third largest watch manufacturer in Switzerland.

much prefer the santos between the two but that's because i just don't see myself wearing a watch on a leather strap. santos is just much more wearable and versatile imo

Having now seen them side by side, I would opt for the Santos. Cleaner look and much more versatile.

No doubt that it has a more complex movement and looking thru the case back you really see the craftsmanship
