Incoming: Grand Seiko Spring Drive Ceramic GMT SBGE253

Recently I had decided I was ready to make my next watch purchase. After talking about picking up another Rolex piece with multiple AD's and everyone of them practically laughing at the availability of literally anything stainless I decided to take my business to another watch company happy to sell watches.

That being said, I looked to Grand Seiko and was so lucky to get the newly released SBGE253 Spring Drive GMT with ceramic bezel. Just received it this morning and am in 100% in shock and awe over the beauty of this watch. This is my first Spring Drive movement and it is mesmerizing to stare at and see the perfectly smooth sweep. If you've never experienced Zaratsu finishing before then you are missing out, it is truly something to behold.

Wow, she's a stunner!

veThis model is really starting to grow on me as I continue waiting to get a hold of a GMT II. One thing that I have heard, which was a bit concerning, is that when the minute hand is exactly at the 12 o'clock position, the hour hand isn't dead center with the the hour marker. Have you noticed any such issue with your SBGE253?

Wow!! Been waiting to see some incomings on this beauty! Congrats!!!

How does it wear? Thickness is there on paper, but I heard that GS did a good job on wearability! Thoughts??

Congratulations:

2 Questions:
How is the dial surface? gloss or extremely matte like with the SBGE 201?
Is that a lint between the 11 and 12 hour markers on the dial?

I like these....except for the alternating numbers on the bezel and chapter ring. Who thought that was a good idea? Otherwise....an excellent design, good size, and of course the spring drive is always a solid bet.

Congrats on your new purchase.

I also took my business away from Rolex to GS and couldn’t be happier about it. They are stunning.

I’d be happier to own that than a black ceramic Daytona.

Apologize for digging up an old thread, but I wonder what this would look like with a black calf skin strap with silver stitching. Beautiful with the bracelet, but what would a strap do???
