Bought from Grey and multiples times at an AD. Feeling is the same pretty much tbh. End result is I get the watch I want. I've only ever paid 500 over retail for some of the hottest SS watches from WF of all people but this was quite a few years ago - not the rip off merchants they are now.

I usually prefer AD, but for my Explorer - paying around $300ish over retail + tax wasn't that big of a deal for me. I had a brand new watch and helped build some trust with others on this forums. That was worth the $300 for me.

All five from ADs.

One in Argentina back in 2014, and the others all from same AD in UK.

Counting what I own now Six out of seven are from ADs including one which is a used 5 dgt Gmt that they sold new. The one only not from an AD is a 5 dgt Sub bought from the original owner.

Both of my Rolexes came from the same AD. My AD also sells Tudor and I’ve bought two Tudors from this AD.

A mixed bag for me. Handful from AD, handful from TRF trusted sellers. When not AD I mainly deal Tony (justrolexes) He’s my guy! We have what I like to think of as a great relationship.

Cost of AD

I have never bought anything that I was not looking for and the AD has always been courteous and friendly. I have never paid over retail and sometimes I have paid less than retail. The last Rolex that I bought was a BLRO back in May of 2019 and it took about a month to get. My experience with them has been excellent, no badge of honor and not overrated. What is overrated is paying over retail at a grey market dealer.

In the old days, I'd buy from individuals or grey. Now that prices have gotten silly, the cheapest avenue is from the AD.

My wife and I have 8 Rolex watches between us. 6 were bought from the same AD. 2 were bought grey. The AD is always my first port of call. I don't consider the AD experience superior or safer than the grey route, because I fish in a small, well respected, well trusted UK grey pool. But in the case of Rolex it's a lot cheaper. to stick with the AD, if this is possible for a given model.

My Rolex collection is expected to level off when I get my SS BLRO. This will come from my AD. I have no idea when. In the case of other brands I like and want, the grey market will lead. But my Rolex AD may still get this business, because they know the grey universe and will discount generously for the sale. They are good like that. They know their business.

First one was from a TS here DJ 41 early 2018, new at a discount.
Next 3 were all new from the a local AD, SubC, SubC date, and BLNR all at MSRP.
I will continue to buy new from AD.

Only route I’m comfortable going, even if it means waiting-or-never-getting. Doesn’t mean it’s not worth trading with 3rd parties, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to spot a really well-done fake.

Eleven Rolex over 36 years. One, an early DSSD, from grey. Three in the early 00's that were NIB but arranged through a friend. The rest all from AD's. I don't want any of them enough to buy at current grey prices but wouldn't need to.

One Rolex and two Tudors from an AD

Two Rolex, three Omegas secondhand

I've had such good experiences buying from sellers on here and other places I may never buy from an AD again. Saved a boatload of money in the process.

Only grey but also only because I’ve just found myself in a position where I can make purchases like this, in middle of the craze. I only have a BLRO, and don’t see that changing unless this dies down.

All grey. Don't have the patience to wait once I decide I want something. And I refuse to do the suck up a** kissing at the AD.
