To clarify, there is actually no missing lume. The 3, 6 and 9 on the non- blackouts have white paint (non-luminous) and the 3, 6 and 9 on the blackouts have black paint.

The 214270 on the other hand had no lume nor paint on the numerals until Basel 2016 and now has luminous 3, 6 and 9 making it the first Explorer with white gold surrounds to have luminous numerals as far as I know (the last explorer to have luminous numerals being the non-WG surround 1016).

Yeah my text should have been more clear. I meant the new numerals that weren't luminous.

Hello friends. Digging up an old thread and will like to share that there are 2 versions of silver text dials. I am showing both as below.

Version 1 : sharper and slimer print with longer seconds hand.

Version 2 : fatter print with shorter seconds hand.

The 2 coronets look different too. Both are silver as well. So we might have 3 versions of blackout explorer 1.

2 silver printed dials and 1 white printed dial.

To suggest that only thirty watches were manufactured by Rolex would lead one into thinking they were only distributed to select, or specialist user's. The very cost of manufacturing just thirty watches, taking into consideration the R+D costs would surely need a much higher retail price. If you are only going to make thirty watches, my own opinion is that they would at least be in precious metal, probably Platinum, as well as choosing a model that would be much more desirable. I'm with Haywood on this. Just my ten Bob's worth.

I can confirm categorically that more than one turtle exists. I've seen several with my own eyes. Not sure how far this argument gets us here, though.

If there were only 30 of these watches they would be fetching the same value as a genuine Blueberry 1675 GMT

Number of pcs produced aside, anyone has come across other dial versions of the blackout Explorer?

What i have seen so far are 2 silver print variants and 1 white print variant.

In fact, some photos of this watch will also be appreciated.

I didn’t know there were two versions of the silver dial, I always assumed my second hand was replaced during a service by the previous owner. I’m enjoying learning more about this watch and want to learn more!

Here’s a pic of mine, I guess it would be the second version of the silver print dials you show here? Hard to tell if my font is considered fat or not — the two silver print dials in the post look similar to me.
