Icon20 Rolex DJ - Jubilee or Oyster?

I’m a 23 years old guy planning on buying the first luxury watch.
My mind is at Rolex Datejust 41 steel, fluted Basel in blue dial. Initially I. Wanted to get the it with Oyster but my AD says to go with Jubilee because oyster get scratch everywhere so easily.
What do y’all think would go with my combo (DJ 41 steel fluted basel in blue dial)?
Jubilee or Oyster?

I would always pick jubilee for fluted datejust.

But this isn’t my watch, it’s yours. Go with the bracelet that you like because it’s going to be on your wrist, not ours.

Jubilee or Oyster?

That's the one to get. I agree about the jubilee.

The fluted-jubilee combo is pretty strong. However, as stated above, your watch, your wrist, your choice. No wrong answer.

If you are 23 I wouldn’t go jubilee. The oyster can scratch more but I wore one for 6 months and it didn’t have scratch on it.

The jubilee is nice looking but at your age it might be an older look.

Jubilee matches the fluted bezel.

I'd go against the grain. I had a fluted bezel with jubilee and it's much too dressy for me so I let it go. Given your age (I'm not that much older than you) I think the oyster will suit you more. You will scratch your watch either way. The oyster plus fluted bezel, although less common would be the ideal choice. It covers a lot of bases and is very sporty. Look up pictures of both. You can't go wrong either way.

This is true. In fact, it was pointed out to me by someone when I was around your age that I was wearing an old fogey’s watch. If it’s your style, wear it proudly because at the end of the day, you wear that watch for you. Not for anyone else.

As a different angle I would recommend to try jubilee on a 36.

I have pretty solid wrists and purely size wise 41 is a good fit. I have a 41 on oyster and love it. Since it is rose TT Wimbledon it is more of a summer watch, so recently I tried on steel bracelet black and blue dials on jubilee and in 36 it felt like the ideal balance for an everyday watch - felt to me that the more classic size offset the more flashy nature of the jubilee.

Just to throw that option in the mix.

If I was in my 20's I'd get it in oyster, but I'm that not young anymore so this was my choice:

Congrats on the Datejust, it’s gotta be the most underrated Rolex these days. Everyone is too focused on the sports line.

Welcome to the world of luxury watches

I'd go with the Jubilee since you might just end up with a Sub with the oyster bracelet sometime soon.

If you're going the classical route, nothing beats a classic look with the jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel.

Just my 0.02$

Is this going to be an everyday watch? If so I'd go with an oyster bracelet. I picked up a dj36 recently and well but with a jubilee/fluted. Like others I'm a bit older and I wear business clothes very often

Fluted Jub, Smooth go Oyster. my DJ36 is a daily i went smooth oyster, it's brilliant. I am mid 30s, I don't know which is more appropriate for a 23 year old but for me I'm leaving fluted jub for my 40s.

For a SS Blue DJ I'd go fluted and Jubilee. It's a fussy look but the DJ pulls it off with style. But I'n not you. Which do you prefer?

I actually have both bracelets for my DJ1. Jubilee and oyster. I find the jubilee more comfy and looks better with the fluted. Oyster is good too. Just looks more sporty

Do they still do the Super Jubilee bracelet on certain cite SS models out of interest?

IMO, oyster looks better with fluted if you are going for versatility as oyster still keeps things casual. This also avoids too much ‘bling’. But really there is no wrong answer , you should try both and get the one you like
