Nice watch. maybe share a bit more about why you bought a 1655 as opposed to another reference? Anything unique about this one that spoke to you?

Always loved this watch and i just got really lucky, put an ad in a local paper looking for anything Rolex vintage and this retired army colonel called and said he had this explorer.
He kept everything so its a full set with original receipt from the jewellers in 1974.

^^That is AWESOME!
I like this ref too, but would want one with perfect provenance and associated goodies that came with it at time of sale.
Congrats on an epic pick up!

Congrats! Looks like a nice MK2 "frog foot." Would love to see bigger photos. (What's up with the date wheel?)

Congrats. I can't believe somebody actually responded to your ad. I see those ads all the time and always figure they are scammers or low-ballers. ;-)

Let's see more photos, and of the full set too! (I assume you'll need a service. That date wheel looks misaligned.) Great pick-up. Congrats!
