The two posts below contain links to the before & after photos of the bezel recut that I had done on my DJII this weekend.

Gotta say I have never heard of having a fluted bezel recut but it looks great! Congrats - looks sharper than before.

Who did the recut? Do they basically just sharper the line angles on the gold bezel.

My local watchmaker. They took off the bezel, used their diamond cutting machine, reinstalled, waterproof tested. Looks 100x better than before.

Couldn’t get the photos to upload before. All fixed now :)

Do you know how sharp to the touch the bezel should feel? Aka what did it feel when brand brand new? I suppose not as sharp as the ridges on the Skydweller, but looking for some input from DJII owners.

Question for DJII owners.

Can you explain how sharp the edges / ridges feel on your bezel? Mine is still pretty smooth post recutting, but I can feel the ridges if I try. I have a friend with a Skydweller and those ridges are sharp! Almost like a weapon lol!

End result looks good. I assume more material was removed in order to sharpen the edges.

What was the cost? How does it compare to getting a new replacement bezel from Rolex ( assume a lot more considering you would lose the old bezel), or getting an aftermarket bezel ? (Keep the old bezel)

$300 for the recut vs at least $1,000 for material and labor on a new replacement.

I agree - material had to have been removed, but the ridges are somehow deeper and more defined than before. Excellent work by my watchmaker.

Thanks. Great savings, well worth the result. And even the material loss is no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Unfortunately in the hands of those unfamiliar with polishing the fluted bezel it will be flattened. Glad yours could be saved.

Impressive work! If you don't mind me asking, how did the bezel get so dull in the first place?

I purchased the watch used so I’m not so sure... but it must have been from over polishing. I also have read that they tend to dull after years from nicks scratches etc.

Agreed. However mine still feels “flat or smooth” post the recut but it looks 100x better than before! I’m still trying to find out how sharp to the touch it would’ve felt when sold as brand new? Some people have said that the DJII bezel was always “flat” but looked sharp from the cut ridges. Unlike the Skydweller that has a super sharp feel.

Looks pretty perfect and definitely better than the £1k price tag from RSC for replacement.
