I have both last year and 2010/2011 Rolex catalogues and Sub C LN looks best for me.In the past a owned only Omega, but i must admit that Sub C is all the way to go if you want a single and only watch from Rolex...just my opinion.

Honestly speaking, i don't know if i will ever buy another expensive watch, that's why i want to make the right decision. I've never been into expensive watches but my fiance insists on buying me a rolex as a wedding gift.

What to do?
it seems like you're active given you're still in your 30's so I would go with the sub.

The Sub is beautiful, but I would have chosen the DJII. It is very classy, and IMO the sub doesn't look good with a suit. Just because it's expensive and swiss doesn't mean its ok to mix a sports watch with a suit. You wouldn't wear a g-shock to a board meeting. Plus, it seems like EVERYONE has a sub. I know that that's not the case, but it often seems like it. Especially with the number of sub fakes I see at work.
I don't really think the DJII is too dressy to wear casually. Especially if it has the white gold bezel. Just my opinion.

Nice pics. Yours is the steel band with a black dial and roman numbers? I didn't see this on their official site.

with the two watches that you listed, i would go with the new sub. i'm not a big fan of the dj2. however, i'm a huge fan of the 36mm dj, because it's a true classic

If I may suggest- have the fiance/wife-to-be buy you the DJ II as a wedding gift and you can buy the SubC on your own (or the reverse, she can buy the SubC). That way you'll have a work watch for which I think the DJ II is perfect, and the SubC for the casual T-shirt and jeans. I agree the DJ II looks better with a suit. My 2c.

my vote: sub date. i don't like the dj, the 41mm is an improvement, personal taste of course. i think the sub date is a more substantial and significant watch

As said befor you couldn't go wrong with any Rolex, but you picked a good choice in picking the GMT over the Sub/DJII.

I tried this watch and found it very classy. This is a tough choice and can't help you because I couldn't decide for myself.

I saw this post just now. I had the same predicament -- choosing between the Sub and the DJ. Both models had their upgrade the past year -- Sub Ceramic and Datejust II.

I finally went for the Sub C -- IMO everything is just right for this watch when Rolex made those changes. Though I also fancied the DJ II with the fluted bezel, oyster bracelet and the grey dial with green Roman painted index, I find the crown to be a bit disproportionate to the dial/ bezel size.

Having said that, I am hoping for some changes to a bigger crown on the DJ II in the foreseeable future which Rolex has done previously with great results for its other models.

Of course the DateJust 41 has more value and prestige. It is Gold and you can wear it in formal and sports cloths.

DateJust 41 is one of the most beautiful watches in whole watch industry.
