16710 Pepsi to go?

Just because they’re light doesn’t mean they’re cheap and flimsy. They’ve proven they can hold up to years of abuse. The clasps on the newer models are higher quality, I can’t argue that.

However, the newest models are furthest from the design and function of the original Rolex watches.

Clasp, bracelet, case, dial... everything is higher quality. I dont mean there cheap and not to offend in anyway. Im a wis and appreciate all models. But from initial impressions on pre 2007 rolex models, they just feel fake. Theres a reason everyone i have encountered who has held a 5 digit compared to a 6 digit always thinks its fake, just from the feeling of weight alone

I'd lose the black Daytona if it were me. A trade of the old Pepsi for a new might be nice

I’m not offended, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I just think what you’re saying is a seriously hot take.

Yes its simplistic... but THE FACT is 6 digit models are better quality and better made watches... moot argument if you think otherwise, my opinion on dumping older pepsi for a newer one still holds.. dump the 16710

I somewhat concur with BigBoy17.

I have a 16750 and love it to bits. The light weight and flimsy bracelet add to the vintage charm.

However the 16710 in an effort to become modern and move upmarket doesn’t quite pull it off.

The 126710 however does. Much more substantial, greater heft and a real feel of unbreakability that the earlier watches don’t possess.

I would keep them all. 16710 prices will continue upward so no rush in making your decision.

I want to preface this by saying I’m biased and I love the 5-digit references, but why do people always associate heavier with being higher quality. Just because something weighs more doesn’t mean it’s automatically better.

Also, I’d argue that put through the same exact paces both watches would fail in the same way. I don’t think either one is truly more robust than the other. The fail points would probably be very similar.

Thank you :) it’s interesting to hear different views about these watches. I think there are excellent examples in both the 5 and 6 digit references and the 16710 is certainly one of these. I used to wear the Pepsi along with some other 5 digit alot. The Milgauss and Air King are the only 6 digit references that I like and wear at the moment. Taste may change. Perhaps it will take me a bit longer to decide which to go.

White dial Milgauss would go for me. Nice to see a creamy Daytona. I've seen one of those in real life but could find no info on them.

Older one looks nicer. Newer one has excess fat.

'pre 2007 Rolex models feel fake'

Clearly this guy has only ever held one ceramic model in his hands

Yep only one, if you have a friend who doesnt know what a rolex is or ever wore one, let them hold your 5 digit rolex in there hand and let them give you an honest opinion of it. I can guarantee the response you will get is “ is this real”, “why is it so flimsy”... followed again by “ is this real”. Its an experiment i have done one too many times with friends to prove a point. Not a problem with the newer models:). Not intending to flame just my experience and opinion between the two

What new models do you have??

My thoughts exactly when I handled my 16750 for the first time.

If I had to have only one it would be a 16710 with both bracelets and the 3 inserts. 6 different cracking watches!
