rose gold explorer 1
I know this is heresy given the model's history, but what do you think of the look? Would you wear it? Personally I think the black luminous dial really pops in this config, and the weight would be something else.

I think Rolex has enough PM models. I think it’s cool that Explorer never went that way.

I agree that the luminous black dial on rose gold would look great. It's no more heretical than a gold submariner and those managed to catch on. In my observation, most Rolex aficionados have strong knee jerk distaste to such introductions and after a resistance period, warm up and often become enamored. The Daytona was out of production for over 20 years I believe after being introduced and remaining hugely unpopular. Even though it looks funny to me, I'd bet an RG Explorer would catch on faster than most, especially with it's 39mm size.

My first thought was no but dang, that doesn't look half bad. I personally would prefer the SS version but I'll bet my wife might like that.

I like it- but I would rather a RG Explorer II in a white dial.

They’ll boo it when you suggest it but they’d pay over MSRP if it was released.

It does look good !
Although a white PM may be a better stealthy option for one of their most low key models.

I like it. It’s a more sporty alternative to a day date.
Though I’d prefer yellow gold.

I think that would look lovely! Have been dreaming about a YG Explorer for a while, but in the old 36mm case. Now that would be something!

I think it looks better than most of the current Rolex PM line up, it’s simplicity works in it’s favor when combined with the richness of the rose gold

That looks really good, keep it all brushed! I can see this become popular with some people.
Of course it doesn't make sense with a rose gold Explorer but a gold Sub doesn't make sense either. Personally I think that Rolex rose gold is too pink although some people say it becomes more yellow with time and wear. |

Ok, this:
Yellow gold explorer I, with blue dial. Maybe an extra thin version? Would be the killer of Basel 2019. |

Not for me. The Explorer I was always more of a tool watch to me. Great for daily use, hiking, playing sports, etc. I will always prefer this model in steel.

I can’t imagine they’d do that, but it would look incredible. But they would receive endless hate from Explorer purists.
