I just love it.
He also shared that he has the movement and seals serviced regularly and it has never given him anything but reliable service.

I would have loved to borrow it for an extensive photo shoot, but he wasn't parting with it for more than a moment for me to snap the above w my iPhone.

Remembering the good old days where you bought a watch and wore it.

My first "good" watch did not leave my wrist for 12 years when the seconmd bracelet broke and it died...

Anyway, I think it is great to see a watch with some honest wear on it.

i think it is especially remarkable that in all the trips the watch has made to service, it has escaped the polishing of the case… this fact i absolutely love.

the patina of the dial is also just so beautiful to me!

This should once and for all answer the question of whether the Nautilus can be used as an everyday wear. It absolutely can. From now on when somebody asks this question, they need to see this thread. Great watch and lovely to see

WOW great story but I won't soon be chopping wood with my 5712 on me, 1 month in Thailand and my BLNR came back with some serious scratches on the bracelet

, and to think I was hesitating to take the Patek or not, so glad I didn't take it

I wear watches pretty much everyday. None of the watches I value will EVER end up looking like that. The value of that watch at this point is purely sentimental because of how it was treated. To me that is unfortunate, because there is one less of these in the world in collectible condition.

As far as polishing, what would be the point of polishing a case that damaged? There wouldn't be any case left!

Anyway, I'm happy that he has a sentimental memento of his father, but very very sad for the watch...
