I’ve been though this as well. I originally owned the RG DD with chocolate dial after wanting a more dress piece than my RG Choc dial Daytona on strap. I remember that the reason I didn’t like my 116515 chocolate dial was because at lease for me the rose gold and the chocolate dial was too much of a clash. Choc dial on rose gold on my tan skin just didn’t go well for me. Hard to read.
Fast forward, I’ve been though 3 RG DD with olive dial and its still in my current collection. Absolute stunner and it’s my all time favorite piece. Beautiful piece with good contrast on my wrist. Prob wasn’t any help but just wanted to share my ownership experience. |

Green, or the Olive dial to be exact.
I went through same delima and chose the anniversary olive dial in Everose. Having said that, both are amazing. You can’t lose. Try them both on. You’ll know what’s right for you. |

I’m weighing up the same at the moment
Leaning quite heavily toward the olive dial, probably my favourite watch in the current lineup...but not as versatile as others have mentioned Out of curiosity OP, will you be buying from an AD? I’m based in Dubai and a new DD40 is available here for 20-30% off MSRP (grey) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I much prefer the olive green dial.
Something to keep in mind with dark dials that have no lume on the markers and hands, they can tend to disappear at times depending on the lighting making it difficult to read the time. It may not matter with the DD40...the watch is so gorgeous that you’ll probably just stare at it and not care about the time at all! |

I went with the Chocolate dial because 1.) I already have the Hulk, which I feel like is the best green dial out there and 2.) I didn't want another green-dialed watch, even if they are different shades of the same color.
Also, with 3 Rolexes in my collection, I wanted diversity!

Tough one. I'd have to say chocolate for RG. If you want the olive, go WG.

Interesting question. When I asked my AD about which was more popular he said chocolate without reservation. He said that people’s overall impression of green was negative. I think that the WIS community embraces the color partly due to its history with the brand.
For pure esthetics I chose brown. I realize that I’m in the minority here, but I’m not at all a fan of anything sun dust. My runner up was white which I also loved. I bought the diagonal motif because I thought it looked way more sporty than romans and I liked that it was lumed. No matter which you choose you really can’t make an error here. Buy what speaks to you loudest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I originally posted olive but now, after seeing all the pictures of various options, I can't decide. chocolate dial, olive dial, chocolate with diamonds, chocolate motif, YG?.... lol
first world problems at its finest! good luck my friend. let us know what you decide. |

That green is in a class of its own ... and the Chocolate has an aged bronze feel to it in certain lights and angles.
Thats a difficult decision to make, both are stunning.

I don’t think you can separate the choice of dial colour from the design of the markers. The Roman style markers make a dial seem more cluttered and crowded. That’s as important a choice as the colour. It’s a tricky decision.
I went for WG with rhodium and stick markers. Visually a cleaner look. |

Rose gold/olive is a winner. Very elegant piece. The chocolate dial is also nice but this olive dial is special. The chocolate dial can be found on RG TT Datejust 41.

Some very nice pictures in this thread.
I'd encourage you to try them on, if possible. I find one's skin tone makes a big difference as well, and the olive dial with Everose was the clear winner for me when I tried them on. It has the classic Rolex colors and is just so dynamic on the wrist. Under sunlight, it has a depth that is unrivaled by any model in the Rolex lineup. |

Not a fan of gems on men at all. Too feminine. No diamonds on rings, bracelets or watches. That said, it’s really tastefully done on the 228235 but it’s not my thing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I vote for the chocolate rose gold DD. I hope to own that model with an Italian Day Wheel someday.

If you're going rose gold, Olive hands down. It's a "meant to be" combination -- that Olive goes absolutely perfectly with the rose gold. If I was in the market for a DD40, that's exactly what I would go after.
