Blue Skydweller - buy now or wait further ?

have given up waiting for my AD to allocate me one at retail.

Given that prices are falling where do you guys see the price of the steel sky dweller ? its about $26k new on Oyster and $27k on Jubilee

Has it stabilized at this level or is there more room to fall further ?

Here we go again....

All that matters is what YOU think. We don't know how big your wallet is.

I know this -- Looking down and smiling at a beautiful watch on your wrist is priceless.

Wait. And don't give up on your AD just yet unless you know they are being insincere.

I have blue on Jubilee. It's magnificent. But it's not worth over 2xMSRP. Nothing is. And soon it won't be at that level on the grey market.

Waiting to long and you might get a dead cat bounce but is it really a bouncing dead cat...? IDK

I think, you place a value on what you're willing to spend on an item (if you intend to keep it) and have to accept the pricing may fluctuate. Knowing when to 'get in' or when to 'get out' is an amazing skill that I have failed to learn so far

That said, it's a consumer item and it's a want not a need (though sometimes it sure feels like 'I NEED' that new thing), so YMMV but enjoy it when you decide to buy

definitely large emphasis on your last part. Everyone needs to realize this is a luxury good and not a stock, a dead cat bounce is entirely improbable (in my opinion)….

Too many people are using market terms interchangeably when there are resemblances but it’s simply not the same. Just like when people compare stocks to housing, etc. There’s differences.

Not nitpicking you in particular, just something I’ve seen being posted on here. As a lot of stock action will obviously have a ‘bounce’ in the midst of a down trend, this could just fall endlessly back to around MSRP without so much as a blip. I’m also firmly of the belief that even when we hit the floor it’s not going to spike, it’s simply going to settle there for a while. You don’t need to ‘time’ this fall, it’s a luxury trinket. Hence me always telling people to wait.

Whatever you decide, you better hurry up and decide.

Someone may just find the thread ‘offensive’ to them of course and ask the mods to close/delete it.

Out of the two, I’d go with jubilee and wait a little longer.

As others have said, just wait.

Without an excellent relationship, blue will probably still be difficult to get from an AD, but I imagine you'll see a $20-23k "bottom", if not lower in the secondary market pretty soon. That would still be 25-40% above MSRP, but far more realistic than the 200+% we've seen lately.

Unfortunately, when my local AD lost their status it left me starting over and without any AD's closer than 60 miles. I'll hope for miracles, but I figure my shot at one is pretty slim, so I'll likely have to go grey.

I think if it were me I would try and wait for your ad. Sounds like a lot of people are getting “the call” lately. Beautiful pice. I go back and forth over jubilee and oyster bracelets. Right now it’s jubilee in my book lol. Good luck with your search

My friend bought this watch on jubilee for 40k 3 months ago….. he doesn’t care. He wanted the watch. I told him it was impossible to get at Rolex…. So he bought it the next day and hasn’t looked back. It all comes down to your financial situation and if losing 5-10k changes your life in either way. If your trying to time the market… better off timing the stock market.

But he may have lost $25k.

Just saying, that’s a huge difference

I personally don’t think you’ll get one from the AD unless you’re certain you’re #1 on their waiting list.

I think at 25k you strike. Catching the bottom of this market is going to just as tough as the stock market .

You asked here on TRF. Having lurked here for years, I always know the answers to your question before you even asked. It's always the same: "wait", "AD only", "prices will drop", "Never over MSRP", etc.

Nobody has a crystal ball, so do what seems right for you and your budget. I have "sinned" and bought at a premium over MSRP and have been happily wearing my watches ever since, and not fretting about next week's or next month's prices or sitting by the phone waiting for "the call" that never comes.

I think the thing you need to do now is decide the bracelet that you want, and then keep an eye on prices and go for it when it feels right to you.

I would say wait ….but…availability of that combination will always be low.

It’s your decision.

How badly do you want it? $, $$, $$$?

Watch is $15K from AD. You can buy a few more watches with the difference of 40K and 15K. But if that’s all you want then you should do as you please with your own money.

the skyd in blue has always been made is very limited numbers and traded over retail, from day one its been hard to get retail and that will never change. Is it worth market asking prices, that is up to the market like anything else.

It is a magnificent watch though, there are no questions on that point.

Well said and I completely agree. Do not expect prices will fall any further. Just the opposite. On January 1st Rolex will make another hike up of RRP.
What matters is your desire.
And if you are short of cash for 26 k, you better do not commit yourself at any price point.

When they started, they were $19-20k. 23 and under is where my interest is. If I'm wrong, so be it; there are (and will be) plenty of other watches to choose from that won't have absurd premiums.
