Congratulations!!! That's a beautiful watch!!! I'd love to own one!!! I'm slowly switching to being really fond of rubber straps for their comfort and fit!!!

Ah there’s still some plastic on the left side.

I think anything less than 0.5 is very good... I use the Timegrapher more for my older watches to check when they need a bit of work, but it’s nice to check that a new watch is performing well.

Congrats!! Within 1 month from the purchase from the AD (mentionned on the warranty card) you can change the strap for free at the RSC after that period you need to pay and you cannot keep the original one.

Yes I thought there might be those kind of issues but was fine.

The advertised prices on Chrono24 do seem to be a few percent higher than they were this summer but there seems a similar amount of stock, if not more. As an example, Mark Worthington in Wilmslow have six different oysterflex daytona variants on their website at the moment with May to October registrations.

I expect in the UK 13-15% over list should still be possible for preowned with most of the warranty, though maybe a little more if you get it literally unworn rather than barely worn. It's probably a low enough premium for people to take it rather than resign themselves to a 6-12 month wait at an AD, especially with Christmas not far away.

If the prices are trending a little higher, perhaps some of it is that for a lot of people with the kind of white collar jobs that can fund a watch habit, they still have their jobs through Covid and are sitting around WFH without having been able to spend loads of money on going out or taking holidays over the last half year :)

Hmm well I can’t speak for anyone else's experience but in the 2 years I’ve been trying and failing to get this specific watch from an AD the RRP has risen from £21,050 to £23,800 and the graph on chrono24 suggests a 33% rise for an unworn one, and 25% of that was before the start of 2020. I’ve been tracking it pretty closely and it looks to me like the number available is a function of the grey premium. Look how many Pepsi’s are available...

Chrono24 graphs are always optimistic because they have a vested interest in making it look like watches are getting more expensive over time to feed your FOMO and encourage you to buy asap, and hope you'll do it through them. In reality a new unworn one isn't over £30k, and a new unworn one wasn't as low as £20k two years ago when list was £21k, so the 33% in two years isn't the reality seen on the street.

And if course if you find a watch on Chrono24 and check the name of the dealer, then just look that dealer up independently online you may find the piece listed for 3-4% lower because they won't need to pay a finder's fee to Chrono24 if you buy from them direct. And then after you've seen what they are really listing it for, you start to haggle it down because nobody pays sticker price for a £25-30k watch when there are identical ones available, just like they don't pay sticker price on a £25-30k used car.

But you're right that we probably see a few more on the grey market now the price has ticked up a little - after the stainless ceramic ones went crazy there are plenty of people willing to buy a white gold one with a better dial for a bit more money, and dealers know that can sell as many as they choose to advertise.

The dealer I mentioned above routinely updates their listing every month with a new one to replace the one they just sold, but there's no point putting two or three of the exact same model/dial on at once, as people won't think it's 'hard to get' and it would be counter productive to them getting a high price.

I agree Chrono24 isn’t perfect as it tracks offered price rather than actual executed pricing but it’s probably the only historical pricing tool that’s available and at least indicates a trend for a specific model, given it’s the dominant world wide retail marketplace. As far as I’m aware the prices are set by the sellers, not by Chrono24 - if it doesn’t sell you can lower it to clear.

I don’t know about the reality on the street but I’ve seen the grey premium hover at around 13% above list for a while, but that seems to have increased. Just what I’ve observed. Interestingly the dealer you mention has this model at £29.5k (a 24% premium) which would suggest the pricing has ticked up.

Anyway, I’m very happy with mine and at peace with the premium I paid. I bought it to wear and enjoy so it’s all good. All I want now is a 6263.

In Australia since 2020 they haven’t been doing strap changes for free.

Also before they change it make it clear you don’t want lug nicks. My 126655 has three thanks to rsc and the ad and there are a ridiculous number of this reports on this forum.
